I’d recommend a trip to Penryn’s Verdant Brewing Taproom for some of the best pizza in town and a great selection of beers produced on site. Or for classic seaside fish and chips, try the Old Hill Fish & Chip Shop, a little out of the way but perfectly located for a supper on the banks of The Fal, near The Greenbank Hotel (see Where to Stay, below – perhaps drop in for a river-view cocktail or two afterwards).

This makes for an interesting combination of shops and restaurants along the high street, and you’ll see a high end eatery like Harbour View next to veggie bar & grill The Chic Pea, opposite quick-serve burger joint Meat Counter. There are also absolutely loads of places to drink, including a wine & tearoom, a sports & games bar, and a bookshop pub.

They use grass-fed free-range Cornish beef as well as organic buns from a local artisan bakery. Classic American hamburgers, vegan and vegetarian options (one is called the Hallouminati – lol), fried chicken burgers and snazzy hot dogs will fill you up to the brim!. One of the best restaurants to grab a handmade burger in Falmouth is The Meat Counter. It proudly uses locally sourced ingredients for all its classic dishes. Despite its name, they also offer an impressive vegan and vegetarian menu all made on site from scratch alongside standard dishes.

The Meat Counter is the first burger joint on the list, and it absolutely BANGS!. While you might expect the Meat Counter to deal in only one thing (and deal in it well), their name is deceptive!. Although they trade a lot in meat, they also have a considerable vegan and vegetarian range.

Despite it’s name, this is one of my absolutely favourites in Cornwall because of their incredible vegan burgers. Truly after all of the vegan burgers I’ve tried, this is up there as one of the best. I always get the Heil Seitan with a side of loaded fries.

The Meat Counter – There’s a reason this burger joint is featured in Lonely Planet’s guide. Mouth-watering options for meat lovers, veggies and vegans alike. We love to just grab a milkshake and sit on the benches outside for some people watching.

The Idle Rocks: Not your everyday restaurant, but not one to miss!. I would 100% recommend paying a visit to The Idle Rocks just across the water in St. Mawes if you are wanting to go for a nice meal with parents or on a special occasion.
