The Beach House has a glorious spot, sitting above Swanpool Beach with views across the bay from its expansive terrace. We actually had some lovely lunches here when it was previously Hooked on the Rocks, but in the last few months it was taken over by the guys who own the Harbour House at Flushing – another one of our faves – and the Beach House Devon, which we discovered a few years ago. I’m happy to say the food is as good at The Beach House Falmouth as the other restaurants in the group, with a menu bursting with fish dishes, including some great sharing platters.

Time for refreshments: there’s something for everyone here, from fish and chips at Harbour Lights (which has upped its game rapidly since a Rick Stein chippie set up camp nearby) to smart seafood with a view at Hooked on the Rocks or the Cove, and ever-changing experimental gastro fare at the Kitchen. Our favourite spots are the revamped Star & Garter, where the Sunday roast (rump of beef £18) should always start with a bloody mary, and Dolly’s, a Georgian “tearoom and gin palace” that serves its cocktails in vintage teapots.

Hooked on the Beach, formerly called Indaba Fish on the Beach - 'We could have been on the Côte d’Azur!. ’ enthused one visitor after soaking up the sun on the glorious terrace looking out onto Falmouth Bay. This is holiday country with a vengeance, thanks to the lovely beachside setting and nearby Swanpool Nature Reserve.The Restaurant is a brand new experience on the beach at Swanpool, Falmouth and it showcases what can be done with quality Cornish Seafood.

For seafood lovers, Beach House Falmouthis a real treat, celebrated for its exceptional, sustainably sourced menu inspired by the ocean. Indulge in delights like Falmouth Bay scallops, lobster, or crab, whole fish from Newlyn Fish Market, or a decadent shellfish platter perfect for sharing. Perched on the headland overlooking Swanpool Beach, this stunning location offers breathtaking views of the azure waters where much of your meal may have been caught.

We had a great itinerary planned for our first full day in Falmouth, starting with a coffee on Gyllyngvase Beach, then a walk along the South West Coast Path to Swanpool and our lunch reservation at Hooked on the Rocks, followed by a walk back into town where we had tickets booked to see No Time To Die at the Phoenix Cinema. Amazingly the weather was lining up perfectly, with warm sunshine all morning, and grey clouds for our afternoon at the cinema.

The newly opened ‘Beach House’ above Swanpool Beach is also following in its predecessor’s footsteps and specialising in seafood. Worth mentioning are their half price oysters every Monday: “We will be serving either Porthilly Shellfish oysters fresh from the Camel Estuary in Cornwall or Sailors Creek Shellfish from the Fal.”. During the rest of the week, they say their menus will “shine a spotlight on the best of local, sustainably sourced seafood.

Lazy lunches, decadent dinners, and sublime shellfish can all be enjoyed overlooking Swampool Beach and Falmouth Bay. Locally sourced seafood and shellfish from Newlyn market means a fresh and diverse menu. Tapas menu caters to the casual eater, but it’s the signature platters that really give you a taste of Cornwall, with the choice of adding a crab or lobster from their in-house tank.

Swanpool is a sand and shingle cove backed by a nature reserve and has a cracking cafe plus kayak hire and the wonderful Hooked on the Rocks seafood restaurant overlooking the beach. Maenporth, reachable via the coastal path from Falmouth is home to the the brilliant Falmouth Surf School with watersports hire, kids’ club, surf lessons for the over 50’s and beach yoga.

Yards from Swanpool Beach, the Beach House offers a range of sustainable seafood such as Falmouth Bay scallops, Falmouth Bay lobster or crab, whole fish from Newlyn Fish Market, or a Shellfish Platter to share. One reviewer said: “Totally enjoyable meal, we can’t wait to return. The food was excellent, with gluten-free food catered for, too.

Venture across the estuary to the Roseland Peninsula (take the ferry to avoid a long detour by land), where you’ll find woodland creeks, pretty St Mawes and the beautiful 13th-century church of St Just in Roseland. It’s also home to excellent beaches, including the sweeping sands of Portscatho, Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor

Located on the cliffside with incredible views out to sea, it’s the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner, providing delicious fresh, local, and sustainable seafood. Sandwiches and snacks are also available from the Cool Box all day, every day.

I'm a bit disappointed - i booked 6 weeks in advance for a Tuesday night, but that didn't get us a sea view - apparently most people had booked before us ???. But the food and the service was great

This spot is well known for host many amazing events including garden parties and this year there are very special guests coming to the spot and the BOOM Bar has also been launched.
