What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Exmoor White Horse Inn offers a charming, historic atmosphere with a standout whiskey selection and picturesque riverside views. While many praise the friendly staff, cozy ambiance, and good pub fare like cream teas, some diners have experienced disappointing meals with dry or overcooked dishes and slow service. The pub's traditional character and location in Exmoor National Park are definite draws, but consistency in food quality can be an issue for some.
"This place is right on the River Exe and the setting is absolutely beautiful. They serve the best cream tea I’ve had, seriously worth a stop just for that! There’s a big garden where you can sit with a drink, relax, and listen to the river flowing by. Such a peaceful spot with lovely vibes and really friendly staff."

"Unfortunately a dissappointing meal, a wonderful menu but sadly did not live up to expectations. My pheasant was very dry and venison was over cooked. I did tell waitress about pheasant but not even an apology from her or anyone else. The service was slow and unavailable at times.
The fire was amazing and comfortable surrounding.
The company of my children was amazing I just wished it was the treat that was intended."
Jane Milverton
"We stopped for a tea break. This is a quiet gem in the middle of a beautiful part of the country. The coffee was tasty and warm. The staff is friendly and helpful. The inside of the building is vintage style. Beautiful, a must stop over to experience for yourself"

If this is the best we can do to showcase British Hospitality in a largely tourist area then I can easily see why pubs and restaurants are closing down at an alarming rate. The bar was dark and dingy, felt very dated and not very welcoming. There wasn’t a single customer sitting in there.
