Oh Exmoor you are just so beautiful. A little escape to the moors on Saturday to enjoy nature. So relaxing. This was a walk called Simmons Bath. Theres a good car park, great pub and of course amazing scenery, even in winter! #exmoor #exmoorwalks #exmoorwalking #devon #devonlife #devonlifestyle #dogwalking #nature #explore

Reviews Summary

Guests consistently praise the exceptional hospitality of hosts Ellen and Billy, highlighting the warm welcome and personalized touches that make their stays feel like home. The delicious food, often made with ingredients from the kitchen garden, and the comfortable, well-appointed rooms are frequently mentioned positives. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some reviews focus on the accommodation aspect rather than just the restaurant.

"We took a short weekend break for my parents wedding anniversary and booked all three rooms at Cross Lanes. On arrival Ellen and Billy and just the most welcoming hosts and simply cannot do enough for their guests. Even to the point of supplying us dog beds for the two spaniels we had with us.

The food is fantastic from the home cooked breakfasts to the evening cheese boards and snacks. Local craft beers and locally sourced coffees are just some of the great beverages but the cocktails are also fantastic.

The rooms are spacious and very welcoming with great en suites and incredibly comfortable beds.

If you would like a great location for a weekend or mid week break we cannot recommend it enough. We will certainly go back."

"We stayed at Cross Lane for three nights and didn't want to leave. Ellen and Billy have done a wonderful job and created such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere for their guests. The little personal touches made throughout the stay just shows the attention to detail and effort they both put in to make your time there as lovely as possible. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious with fresh ingredients from the kitchen garden. The location served as a perfect base to go exploring from and there was always a great cocktail from the bar waiting to be had on your return. We will be going back for sure!"

"A truly beautiful place, run by beautiful people in a beautiful part of England.

We had the most amazing stay at Cross Lane House Hotel this week. From the moment you arrive you feel relaxed and at home and that’s thanks to its owners Billy and Ellen who are so warm and welcoming. It was such a pleasure getting to know them, hearing their story and the history of the Grade 2 cottage. The attention to detail in the room, the garden, the flowers, the restaurant, everything is so deserving of its 4* rating.

The evening food was absolutely delicious made with produce from their kitchen garden and products sourced locally and garnished beautifully with pea shoots and flowers.
You have a wonderful breakfast choice to choose from with everyone being catered for and my coeliac, dairy free and meat free choices were dealt with with no problem at all with full understanding about cross contamination. I felt very relaxed eating here and haven’t had any dietary issues.

I would definitely recommend staying here or popping along for an evening meal if you are in the area or check out one of their events that they also host.
A truly beautiful place, run by beautiful people in a beautiful part of England."
