Reviews Summary

Wedgwood The Restaurant is highly praised for its exquisite tasting menus and impeccable, attentive service that makes every diner feel special. Guests rave about the skillful blend of Scottish and Asian flavors, the perfectly balanced portions, and the charming ambiance. While the price point reflects fine dining, many find it exceptional value for the quality and experience provided.

"I went here the night I got engaged and can hands down say it was the best meal I have ever had.

From the get go, the service was great. Drinks came quick, the Pork Belly appetizer we got was unbelievable.

My fiancé got the sea trout while I got the chicken for mains. Each dish was literally unreal - the balance between the main meat & all the supplementary vegetables/sauces/purees, mashes, etc., were truly remarkable. They provided a shot glass each full of some type of broth “on the house” to boost the experience as well while waiting for the mains. This type of little detail goes a long way to making the dining experience unique & special. Another thing to note - the portion sizes are nailed down perfectly. They were large enough that you didn’t feel ripped off, while not being too big that leave you feeling TOO full & sick afterwards - well done.

I believe to finish the meal we got the chocolate mousse cake - it was great as well. And with the bill, again, they provided some type of treat “on the house” that was also unreal and bite sized.

For the quality, size of meals, diverse flavours, and the fact that they accommodated my gluten free allergies very well (could get almost everything on the menu), the price was exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. Thanks for making the night I got engaged truly memorable!"

"Wow! We did the 8 course wee tour of Scotland and it was hands down the best food we’ve ever had. Several things on the menu I would have never ordered otherwise, so I’m delighted to have tried so many new foods cooked to perfection. In addition to the amazing food, our servers were incredibly attentive, very friendly, and would chat about the different foods we were tasting. Amazing experience and restaurant. We will make it a point to return anytime we’re in Edinburgh."

Ryan Lacy

"Great experience, pricey but in the economic side being a Michelin star restaurant.
Excellent menu, incredible preparations and great service.
If you're in Edinburgh and having these 7 course menus is your thing. You should visit the Wedgwood."

The 41 best Edinburgh restaurants

Chef Paul Wedgwood is a master of combining flavours and textures with subtlety and skill, producing food that is a quietly sophisticated pleasure to eat. Expect Scottish meat, fish and game with perhaps a whisper of Asian flavours along with foraged and cured elements in perfectly cooked Shetland scallops, Douglas fir cured salmon and wild Scottish Borders grouse ham. You will be warmly welcomed, skilfully looked after (do ask for recommendations for wine) and never feel rushed as the tables are not turned in this small, unpretentious but smart restaurant offering tantalising glimpses into the quiet kitchen where all those good things come from.

The 10 Best Restaurants In New Town Edinburgh

Chef Paul Wedgwood has brought his traveling experience to bear on the Scottish-Asian fusion menu at his eponymous restaurant Wedgwood. A contemporary ambience can justifiably be detected in the décor and the varied backgrounds of diners with the restaurant attracting a wide cross-section of young professionals, tourists and seasoned locals. The level of service is extremely professional but quirkily playful, perhaps a necessary complement to menu options such as ‘Deciding Time’, a selection of amuse-bouches and a glass of champagne for £9.95 to pass the time while one agonises over what to order for main course.

The Best 15 Restaurants in Edinburgh

Paul Wedgwood, Chef Patron of Wedgwood the Restaurant set out to create a comfortable, unpretentious restaurant based on seasonal Scottish foods and foraged ingredients collected from some of the more bosky corners of Edinburgh itself. The fact that 12 years on, the restaurant continues to successfully attract serious diners despite its location on Canongate, smack in the middle of the touristy Royal Mile, speaks for itself. The setting is relaxed and informal—bare wooden tables, polished wood floors, with upholstered, high-backed leatherette chairs.

Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Threipmuir Reservoir

Established way back in 1962, this affordable veggie restaurant sits pretty on a sloping New Town terrace, a stroll away from Princes Street. Diners queue to have their plates piled high with salads, quiche, vegetarian haggis, crepes and more, followed by surprisingly indulgent puddings. Hendersons runs a deli upstairs from the basement restaurant, as well as a couple of vegan offshoots elsewhere in town, but – especially when there’s live jazz on a Friday night – the homey cosy vibe makes the Salad Table in particular an Edinburgh stand-out.
