"What a surprise. Grilled cod/haddock with jacket potato. It’s very rare to find something like that in traditional fish and chips shops. What about veg salad with grilled halloumi cheese. Outstanding taste indeed. And finally great puddings. Really impressed. Excellent service and friendly staff. Respect for the family owners. You are the best, really the best. Keep going great work"

"Addition: you’ll see a running theme of the owner replying to negative reviews with nothing but defensive remarks. Shows a complete lack of ability to accept customer feedback. Laughable.
Seriously worried I’m going to wake up with food poisoning after being served undercooked fish from the takeaway counter…. We ate on the outside benches and I brought the fish back as it was barely warm in the middle and translucent. The chef said “well I cooked it long enough”, no apology and it wasn’t cooked long enough otherwise it would have been cooked through and hot. He did offer to cook me another one but I was quite alarmed about his lack of concern for serving up an undercooked fish so it put me right off."

So I would start by wandering along the seafront, grab a gelato if the weather allows (Gelato Famoso_ is great), eat traditional fish and chips on the beach (we went to Dolphins but heard that Qualisea* is also good) or walk along the Edwardian pier (playing air hockey at the arcade like we did is optional). You can even do the Eastbourne Seafront Walking Treasure Hunt (available for £4 via the VisitBritain shop_*) where you can discover history and amusing information about Eastbourne, taking you past famous landmarks as you find out about Rome and the Titanic’s connection to the seaside town.
