What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners praise the restaurant's stunning architectural setting and many of its dishes, particularly the Sunday lunch and steaks, noting the attentive and friendly service. However, some reviews mention inconsistencies in food quality and limited vegan options, suggesting it can be a mixed experience.
"Lovely room and probably the best Sunday lunch in Durham. Pork, chicken and beef were really tasty, as was stuffing, potatoes, yorkshire pud, carrots, peas and cauliflower cheese. Great service too"

"Came here for afternoon tea. The place is beautiful – the architecture and interior really stand out. Service was quick.
The afternoon tea itself was alright. There was a generous variety of 5 different types of sandwiches, which was lovely. The scones were nice, though only raisin ones were available. Desserts were average, some were a bit too sweet for my taste. Tea and coffee were nice.
Overall, a decent experience in a lovely setting."

"The people.
The people made this a great visit.
We visited Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Durham for the first time recently and were struck immediately by the wonderful building. What a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a meal, a drink and wonderful company.
The staff were, from welcome to goodbye, exceptional. Well done them!
As well as making us feel very special on what was a special visit, they went above and beyond when something went a little wrong with the food. A rather cool steak was immediately changed with apologies from the head chef at the table and new sides brought out at the same time. All accompanied by glasses of complimentary wine (which the server made sure, without promoting, were also provided as a none alcoholic version).
Nothing was too much trouble for them. Absolutely exceptional service and a wonderful night filled with laughter, smiles and memorable moments."
