What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Old Bank is celebrated for its generous portions, especially the epic Sunday roasts, and its wonderfully eclectic decor. Many praise the friendly and attentive service, and its welcoming atmosphere for dog owners. However, some diners have found the food to be overrated or dry, and a few have noted issues with hygiene regarding dogs in the dining area or service inconsistencies for larger groups.
"Always amazing food in here and fantastic service. Good gluten free options and cocktails are amazing. A must do if you visit Carlisle!"

"Food felt overrated and like they’re trying too hard to be something they’re not. I had the pork and the tomato sauce had what looked like hairs in it (the chef confirmed it was actually the ends of spring onions) but this really put me off my meal. I’ve had much better meals elsewhere. My partner had the burger but this was really dry too. Such a shame as from reading all of the reviews we thought the food was going to be miles better!"
Libby Harrison
"Fantastic experience at The Old Bank! We came as a group of foodies with kids and we were very well looked after. The service was quick (we had pre-ordered), the staff caring and helpful and the food was delicious! I had Sunday Roast Chicken and it was a bit dry but my starter (fish cake) and the side of cauliflower cheese was so delicious that it compensated for it. Those who had the roast beef absolutely loved it.
Quirky place. Lovely vibes."
