What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Oak Bistro is widely praised for its exceptional food, particularly signature dishes like the Beef Wellington, and its warm, personal service. Diners frequently highlight the generous portion sizes and good value. However, some have experienced issues with slow service and inconsistent food temperature, along with occasional staff rudeness.
"A wonderful classic bistro in the heart of Cambridge, we had a superb meal here with attentive warm service and delicious food. Portion sizes were very generous and we all left feeling very well fed. The scallops, the steak, the lamb and the creme brulee were the favourites of the table. The house red was a superb Bordeaux. We felt that for the quality of food and portion sizes it was very good value; I look forward to hopefully visiting again next time I'm in Cambridge!"

"Nice lunch spot with exceptional service from Phillip. The lunch specials were excellent. All was tasty and fresh. The sardine pate was special. Great wine and beverage list. You will not be disappointed."

"What a lovely place!
The host is very charming and funny and made us instantly feel welcome, just like in a French countryside bistro.
The interior is very tastefully decorated (I loved the painting on the wall above our table!).
I ordered the Chargrilled Rib-Eye Steak with truffle butter and French Fries, with wilted spinach as a side, which was all cooked to perfection.
The Chocolate Fondant with Stracciatella ice cream for dessert (I know I shouldn't have, but simply couldn't resist - though no regrets whatsoever!) was absolutely to die for.
The main reason I had chosen this bistro was its proximity to the Catholic Church, as we had tickets to a concert, and I'm surely glad we did, as it turned out to be a fantastic choice!"
