Reviews Summary

Lost in the Lanes is celebrated for its beautifully presented and uniquely flavorful dishes, particularly its innovative brunch menu and delicious small plates. The cozy and modern atmosphere, coupled with friendly service, creates a welcoming dining experience. However, some diners have found the pricing to be a bit high for the quality, and occasional issues with food consistency or service attentiveness have been noted.

"Wow. I was really blown away by the food, making my little lunch time treat into something to remember!

The menu was interesting and unique, which drew me in initially, but it so lived up to the hype. I had cod, with a few sides, and was so impressed. The cod was cooked to perfection, with a sharp yuzu alioli and wild garlic - what a combo! The sides were also elevated and refined, making spring greens taste out of this world and beetroots so sweet and savoury.

The place itself is a big open space, and there’s a lot of room to feast. The staff were mostly lovely, although I felt a little judged by one member of staff for eating solo - it happens I guess!

I would love to go back for dinner and especially to try the brunch. I can see why this place has so many awards and is usually very busy. Love it 🙌🏻"

Dom Smith

"Nice, but not sure I’d go back.
It’s a lovely space with kind service, and I enjoyed the experience overall—but for the price, it didn’t quite hit.
The food was good, not great. With so many options in Brighton, I’m not sure it stands out enough to return.
The biggest letdown was the matcha. I asked for it extra strong, paid £2 more, and could already tell by the pale color it wasn’t high quality. Watery, diluted, and disappointing.
That said, the setting is charming and the vibe is nice—it just didn’t deliver enough to justify the price."

Joei Chan

"Very cute place.
Got strawberry matcha and butcher's breakfast.
Butcher's breakfast was a bit too salty/peppered to my taste, but otherwise good. I'd mix up a bit more of fresh bits into it to balance it out.
Wasn't crowded at all on a Friday morning, while a few other places nearby were packed."

21 Best Restaurants and Places to Eat in Brighton For 2025, Picked by a Local

Why we love it: Mediterranean-style small plates are hardly hard to come by right now, but the dishes served up at LOST in the Lanes, which has recently launched a Thursday-Saturday dinner menu, do not disappoint. Vegetarian, fish and meat options are all executed well, and there are some particularly enticing plates on the menu – think bavette steak with tangy café de paris dressing or crispy charred leeks served on a bed of romesco. The tasteful setting, smart, flavourful food and friendly service combine to make this place a cracking new dinner spot.

At Lost, it’s not just granola, it’s strawberry and elderflower granola. Egg and soldiers make way for the “lost soldiers” – four fat potato rosti fingers and a dippy egg-yolk hollandaise. Avocado toast comes with pico de gallo, charred sweetcorn, harissa and blue corn tortilla, and even the humble baked bean gets the Lost treatment.
