What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Food for Friends is celebrated for its outstanding vegetarian and vegan cuisine, with many diners praising the creativity and flavor of the dishes, particularly the crispy tofu and vegan options. The cozy atmosphere and friendly, welcoming service contribute to a delightful dining experience, although some reviews mention a slight inconsistency in menu availability online and a dislike for the automatically added gratuity.
"Truly brilliant restaurant in a pretty venue in Brighton with really friendly staff.
Food was all delicious and perfectly cooked, the pumpkin pasta was creamy and super tasty, and the tofu and aubergine to start along with the bread were all beautifully cooked & plated - I don’t think I could complain even if I tried.
I’m not normally a dessert person, but actually the pineapple tart was very tasty - and it was interesting in that the acidity of the pineapple was a focus in a sense and wasn’t just deliberately drowned out with sugar, which I liked.
I would strongly recommend to anyone wanting a slightly more upscale restaurant in Brighton."

"Nothing short of outstanding. The service was swift, friendly and engaging. Then came the absolutely delicious food. I've been a vegetarian for 30 years and I can honestly say, I've been spoilt by this experience, vegetarian food in a pub will never be good enough now!
Our starters were so good I forgot to take 'photos. The main and puddings were divine.
There were three of us eating, the only thing we didn't agree with was the added gratuity. We would have definitely left a tip, but didn't see it was discretionary, I see the replies about this from the restaurant on other reviews, that it is stated on the menu, but we were too busy choosing food to notice.
Other than that, we would most definitely return and highly recommend to anyone, vegetarian or not."

Where To Eat in Brighton: The Dinner Edition
Food For Friends, 17-18 Prince Albert Street, BN1 1HF. Claiming to be Brighton’s original vegetarian restaurant, this place is a right ol’ hotspot so I wouldn’t even bother if it’s a Friday or weekend evening if you haven’t got a booking, so it’s definitely one to book pretty far in advance. The food here though is insane and definitely worth the wait. Fresh and filling, I always make sure I save a little space for dessert.

By all accounts the contemporary incarnation of Food for Friends is unrecognisable from the original hippie haven. It’s now a chic yet relaxed, smart, unfussy restaurant with Farrow & Ball walls and pendant lights – the smart-casual of the dining room décor world.
Botanique, Hove, Brighton
On a trip to Brighton last year we decided to try Botanique because we’ve always enjoyed eating at their Food For Friend’s restaurant in The Lanes. I wasn’t sure about the menu and told my husband that I thought we’d probably both prefer the FFF’s menu, especially as he’s not vegan, but he told me that I should be adventurous and try it. I’m so glad we did as it was really very good indeed.
