What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rockfish Poole offers a delightful seafood experience with a strong emphasis on fresh, sustainably sourced catches. Diners frequently praise the delicious food, particularly the fish and chips and daily specials, as well as the friendly and knowledgeable staff. While the atmosphere and quayside location are generally well-loved, some reviews mention occasional delays in food service.
"Rockfish restaurant is an exceptional dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, truly a treat for the taste buds. The staff was very friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Special thanks to server Anette, who went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed the last 6 oysters available — her kindness and extra effort made our evening even more special. Despite arriving late in the evening, we were pleased to find that we could still get a table, which speaks to their accommodating nature. Highly recommend this place for a memorable dinner!"

"Super fish restaurant on Poole Quay front. Restricted but ample menu complimented with daily specials caught that day. Good atmosphere with excellent friendly and helpful front of house staff. Limited wine, but again sufficient choice. Tempura prawn and veg starters were delicious. Daily special of halibut was outstanding - cooked in gorgeous garlic butter. With chips (as much as you want to order and reorder). BUT... the first portion remained unfinished. Why? For the first time ever... They completely devalued the absolutely gorgeous halibut. Chips were fine.. But.. Wow.. The fish. Only non fish main was also chosen - chicken milanese. Again, beautifully cooked and really tasty.
Limited dessert menu, but not primary purpose of first visit. Decided to go with knickerbocker glory.. See photo. Delish 😊. A super overall first experience of this venue. Would HIGHLY recommend a visit. Recommend booking in advance, as it clearly is a popular venue. Public car parking is 5 minute walk away. Will definitely add this to my must go again restaurants in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area. Thankyou to all the staff for a lovely dining experience."

"Set along the harbourside in Poole, Rockfish delivers on brand values & the ethos of serving fresh day boat caught fish from Brixham!
Staff are scripted to explain the types of fish & seafood available, & how each dish is served, but they could improve on being more attentive.
The restaurant has nice inside seating, & a few outdoor tables, great if the sun is shinning!
We opted for the whole seabass, which is served off the grill, along with 2 sides; a nicely dressed salad & unlimited fries!
The 'meaty' Seabass was flavoursome, & cooked well, if anything I felt ever so slightly over. It was sat in a delicious garlicky butter, & for me, this could have been swimming in it, it was so good! It was a great 'social' dish & was perfect with the chips! however, we did order extra, 'unlimited' was offered; but sadly they took ages to arrive (a fryer issue!?) and we ended up eating them after we finished the fish!
The wine list was good, & without starters, a shared main & no desert, the bill came to just over £100, which wasn't bad for the size & quality of the Bass!
Overall a good place if you appreciate fish, but I feel service could have been better & the delay's was a bit disappointing."
