What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Eating Inn is consistently praised for its exceptional steaks and generous portions, making it a local favorite. Diners rave about the quality of the prime British beef and the warm, welcoming atmosphere of this family-run establishment. While the food garners high marks, a few reviews mention slower service during peak times and occasional inaccuracies with order preparation, though these issues do not overshadow the overall positive dining experience.
"This was the best steak I have ever had, it was buttery soft and had an amazing sear from the grill, cooked to perfection!! My daughter ate her 6oz fillet in a matter of minutes! The Sauvignon blanc, merry mole was smooth and you can really taste the honey at the end.
We booked a reservation, which I would highly recommend as the restaurant was full all evening, we we're served drinks withing 5 minutes of sitting down and had a waiting of 15 minutes to order food. We waited for another 15 minutes for the food to arrive and spent £125 with a 10% tip. 10/10 I would travel the 1hr 30 minutes just for this restaurant."

"We dined here last night and did have a really fabulous meal, the only reason for the 4 stars is the Fillet wasn’t cooked as requested (Asked for medium, however was medium rare) Certainly didn’t ruin the meal at all and can’t fault the flavour. The other dish was fish and chips. The fish nothing particularly special but the Jenga chips were absolutely out of this world! We did have garlic bread with cheese to share as a starter, super cheesy and really tasty. Service was excellent and can’t fault the staff at all. Decor nice as you walk in and a really nice atmosphere ☺️ We would come back if we ever found ourselves in Blackpool again."

"Brilliant food served by nice mannered people in a nice environment. What more do you want. The liver pate starter filled us up and we couldn't finish our main, which was delicious but bust our bellies!"

5 of the best Blackpool restaurants.
The Eating Inn gets non-stop rave reviews from locals and tourists alike. Located on the promenade, just near Mc Donalds (there may be a conflict between the kids idea of dinner and parents at this point 😉 the premises was originally built as a fisherman’s cottage over 200 years ago, this building had many uses until its purchase by Michael Shorrock in 1980 when ‘The Eating Inn’ was born. Now in the hands of his son Ben Shorrock, it remains today a family-run restaurant with many of the dishes on the menu being home made on the premises and serving only prime British beef which are arguably, the best steaks in town (they’re certainly up there with the best we’ve had!!).
Our alternative to the Michelin Guide
The Eating Inn on South Promenade is an intimate family-run restaurant which has a glowing reputation for serving some of the best steaks around, but with many other options on the menu. It's family-run and traditional, with wooden beams, and modern with plush carpet and chrome light fittings and offers tables in its conservatory orinner restaurant area. It was originally built as a fisherman's cottage and acquired in 1980 by Michael Shorrock, who later passed it to his son Ben.

Just a 10 minute stroll from Rossall House, thee form of the building was inspired from elements of the sweeping sea and the fast paced movement of the coaster which the building is named after. The original building was two storey with a flat roof. Of particular importance was the creation of the external areas which are featured on all three floors providing exceptional views from the building

You may have worked us out by now, but we love a good butty here at LancsLive, and if you do too and are fed up with generic sandwich chains, then Moorish is worth taking a special trip to. Next door to the aforementioned Quarterhouse, the sub shop's menu is inspired by movie characters, thanks to the opener's love of films.
