Reviews Summary

Mowgli Birmingham offers a unique jungle-themed ambiance and flavorful Indian street food served in tiffin tins. While many praise the unique atmosphere and delicious dishes like 'Angry Bird' and 'Chaat Bombs', some diners have experienced slow service, particularly during busy periods. A few reviews noted that certain dishes were served lukewarm or slightly undercooked, though the overall positive feedback highlights the flavorful cuisine and attentive staff when available.

"This restaurant is amazing - we had booked as a couple celebrating out 25year silver wedding anniversary- the service was superb and we were given a complimentary drink and a cook book as a gift which was totally a surprise and very much appreciated. Along with the food being the best Indian food we have ever tasted - we had the sharing menu and it is fair to say we will return again in the near future. The atmosphere and ambience was perfect and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time . Highly recommend this magnificent restaurant!!"

"We were a party of 9 for a hen do, and I've been to Mowgli before so I know food comes out when it's ready but for some reason all our starters then our mains came out at the same time?! We were waiting over an hour for our starters to arrive and service was really slow, there were times I tried to get someone's attention for around 10 minutes. The servers were polite but this did have an impact on our day as we ended up being there much longer than anticipated. The food was incredible but the service really did let it down unfortunately."

Katherine Forrest

"I’ve visited Mowgli in various cities and always enjoyed the vibrant energy and personal touch that usually comes with the experience. This particular visit, however, felt a little flat by comparison.
The food, as expected, was great—full of bold flavours and well-executed, especially the Chaat Bombs, which remain a favourite. The dishes were explained well by the person who brought them over, and her warm manner was appreciated.
Unfortunately, the service leading up to that point didn’t quite hit the mark. I waited nearly 10 minutes before even being acknowledged, and the initial greeting was very general—no real welcome, no check on whether I’d visited before, or any recommendations, which is something I’ve appreciated at other branches.
While I waited, two staff members were largely preoccupied with chatting by the till and didn’t appear attentive to guests. The only one making a noticeable effort to check in with diners was a gentleman I believe was the manager—kudos to him for being present and approachable.
Ordering dessert and settling the bill also took longer than expected, and mentioning the Mowgli loyalty code felt like an inconvenience to the server, rather than something welcomed or easily handled.
Perhaps solo diners don’t receive the same attention, which is a shame, because the food really does deserve better surroundings and service to match.
Still a fan of the brand, but I’d hope this location steps up to the standard set by others"

Halal restaurants in Birmingham

Why: Inspired by the Indian way of eating from tiffin boxes, the founder of Mowgli went about setting up a restaurant that mimicked that method and so this restaurant was born. With a selection of exciting curries including butter chicken, Goan fish curry and bunny chow you can experience dishes from all over India as well as international dishes heavily influenced by the cuisine. All these dishes are served in metal tiffin boxes, so you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to the busy lunch time rush of an Indian city.

Despite the cool and hipster setting, where you can have your meal sitting on swings – the food doesn’t live up to expectations. I will say that I enjoyed my starters, but sadly was not a fan at all of my mains, and had to send them back to the kitchen. Had a little word with the staff and mentioned my disappointment in the food, and to be honest they didn’t seem surprised, so I’m not really sure what’s going on with this restaurant.
