Reviews Summary

Molly's Yard is a charming restaurant in a converted stable block, praised for its modern Irish cuisine and lovely atmosphere. Diners rave about dishes like the seafood chowder and the creative specials. While many highlight the friendly service and excellent value, a few reviews mention inconsistencies in menu accuracy and portion sizes.

"Some of the best food I’ve ever had, truly. I got the salmon/smoked haddock special, my fiancé got the lamb burger, and we split a seafood chowder to start. The seafood chowder had ENORMOUS chunks of fresh, delicious salmon. The wine list is pretty good for Ireland and features Romanian wine in particular. Loved every bite!"

Sarah McHenry

"This is my third visit to Molly's Yard. It is always consistently excellent. The menu is always interesting and thoughtfully designed.

The food is consistently excellent. Perfectly prepared. I know that Molly's Yard is a Bistro but the quality of the food, I feel, rivals most fine dining restaurants in Belfast.

Staff were friendly, helpful and the whole experience was perfect. This is my new favourite restaurant in Belfast."

Rusty Madra

"Was so excited to come here on my trip to Belfast and it did not disappoint. Great vegetarian options, I had one of the specials, the peanut butter and chickpea fritter with quinoa which was seriously one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. My husband got the burger which he also loved. We split the fried cheese at the start, which was perfect and gooey with great sauce compliments to add a hit of flavor. The cocktails were delightful, I got the Mollys Garden which was a gin and elderflower drink. It was light and crisp, perfect for dinner. Everything was reasonably priced, service was friendly, quick and we loved every second of our dinner here. We also went for the dessert which almost every table got (which no surprise it was great), the raspberry crumble with vegan raspberry sherbet which was the perfect cap on our meal, tart, not too sweet, and so so tasty. We sat inside but there’s also a lovely area outdoors to dine at if you’d like!"

A converted Victorian stable block in the grounds of College Green House by Queens University, the bijou Molly's pursues a twin-track strategy, with its bistro and dinner menus in various formulations through the week. Budget travellers need to hit Molly's when the bistro menu is available as it includes several sharply executed sub-£10 dishes, such as a "proper" Irish stew or fresh linguine with spring greens and a basil cream sauce. There are also cheaper snackier dishes available, like homemade soup with the kitchen's own chocolate stout take on that Northern Irish staple, wheaten bread.

Molly’s sits in a converted stables from the nineteenth-century that once served as a coach house. As such there’s a familiar rustic feel to everything this fantastic restaurant has to offer — from a warm-hearted bistro to a pleasant courtyard outside. Since this restaurant has partnered with Belfast’s smallest microbrewery, Hilden Brewing Company, the best thing to do on a first visit is choose the paired ales with your dish of choice — a great addition, especially when restaurants across Northern Ireland now have the chance to offer customers mobile drinks ordering.
