Reviews Summary

The Green Bird Cafe is praised for its delicious food, particularly its breakfast and brunch offerings, and its cozy atmosphere. Diners love the quality ingredients and generous portions. However, some have experienced slow service during peak times and occasional menu item unavailability.

"What a cozy and healthy breakfast spot! A lot of options for food and drink and all top notch quality. Would come back again. Cappuccino was rich and flavorful. Portions were good sized - was full quickly. Also had their smoothies.

We went on Friday around 9:15am and it was not full but got full quickly. Turnaround time though seemed fast as well. And seating outdoors"

"Really lovely little cafe. We found this place online and loved the look and the vibe. We arrived around 10am and were seated pretty much straight away. Don’t be fooled if it looks full from the front, they do have a few tables hidden around the back. The service was really quick and friendly and the food tasted very good. We had the French toast with bacon and maple syrup along with an order of poached eggs on toast with a side of avocado. The food was served fast but we didn’t feel rushed to eat and leave even once finished we were left to chat until we were ready to go. Overall I’d say this was a great place to stop for brunch."

"We came for breakfast, and while the food was really good, the overall experience was just okay.

Starting with the highlights: the hash chorizo was a solid choice - flavourful, with a nice mix of veggies and chunks of chorizo. It would’ve been even better with a slice of bread to round it out. We were really hoping to try the Marsala French toast (which came recommended in other reviews), but it was no longer available - a bit of a letdown. We went with the regular French toast with maple syrup and bacon instead. It was very sweet and felt like it needed something to cut through the sugar. The portion size was solid.

The sides, however, were excellent - the mushrooms and homemade beans were both a great choice. Drinks-wise, the orange juice was tasty but only came in a half-full glass, which felt a bit stingy.

The menu itself could use some improvement. It’s a bit confusing - pastries, sides, and full breakfast dishes are all mixed together, making it tricky to figure out what to order. Still, the food earns a solid 4 stars from us.

The real downside was the service. The seating process didn’t make much sense. There was a group of five ahead of us who took ages to be seated. Meanwhile, several tables for two were free - both inside and outside - but we were left waiting without any update. When we finally asked, we were told we had to wait for the larger group to be seated first, even though it didn’t affect our table. It just felt poorly managed (we waited for almost 0,5h!) - especially when you’re hungry and just want a coffee and a bite to eat."

Best brunches in Bath, from Landrace Bakery to The Village in Larkhall

On a warm day, pretty Margaret’s Buildings does a good impression of somewhere much further flung, with tables spilling onto the street and gaggles of locals diving into ruby red Isle of Wight Tomatoes on local Bertinet bakery sourdough or scrambled eggs dripping with roasted chorizo. It’s walk-ins only, so dip into Patrick and Neri William’s curated homewares shop Berdoulat opposite while you wait for your table or pick up a novel from the second-hand and antique book shop Bath Old Books further along the street to read while you nurse your coffee back at the cafe. There’s a good line in gluten-free cakes here too (made by local set up The Wild Flour Cake Company) – perfect to pack in your pocket as you set off to tick off the sites, darting between the Royal Crescent in one direction, and The Circus in the other.

Situated on the higher side of the street a window seat gave us a good view of those who were continuing to get wet. An excellent plate full of pancakes with maple syrup with bacon set us up well for continuing our damp exploration of this lovely city.
