"During a short visit to Ayr I was looking for somewhere that would do some proper Scottish food. Trawling through Google I found the Chestnuts Hotel and wasn’t disappointed. We arrived without booking at around 6:30pm on a cold and windy early March evening. The place was buzzing and there were no tables available in the bar but we were taken to the restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was great and very good value for money. I have been charged quite a bit more for similar quality in similar environments. Totally worth a visit; I wish I was spending longer here so I could return."
