Reviews Summary

Diners consistently praise Arabian Tea House for its authentic Emirati cuisine and exceptional, friendly service, particularly highlighting staff members like Sarah and Zaryab. The cozy, traditional ambiance also receives high marks, making it a delightful spot for meals. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, one diner noted an overcooked shrimp dish, though this did not detract from the server's excellent service.

"The service here is top-notch, warm, attentive, and very respectful. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with genuine hospitality. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and quick to make suggestions if you’re unsure what to order. Dishes are served promptly, and everything comes out fresh, hot, and beautifully plated. Whether you’re just having tea or a full Emirati meal, they make sure you’re well taken care of without being intrusive."

Carl

"Had such a lovely first visit to Arabian Tea House—everything from the cozy, peaceful atmosphere to the delicious food made it a memorable experience. What made it extra special was the warm and outstanding service from Sarah. She took the time to explain the menu and helped me choose the perfect dishes since it was my first time. Her kindness and genuine care really stood out. Highly recommend this place if you want great food and even better hospitality!"

Sam Ong

"This is our first visit to this particular branch, and we have already tried other branches of the restaurant. The service is excellent, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. We ordered a DH 78 Egyptian breakfast tray for two or three people, but it does not include Karak, which is served in Gorri for DH 30, and free bread. The place is suitable for families.

We also recommend that, if your first visit, download the restaurant app to take advantage of a free dish, as well as reward points for subsequent visits."

I also like to bring visiting friends and family to Arabian Tea House, an Emirati restaurant set within the restored traditional architecture of Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, a short stroll from Dubai Creek. With chatter-filled courtyards, sepia-toned photos of Dubai on the walls, and bread baking in the traditional oven, this place reminds me of traditional homes in the Dubai of my childhood.

THE BEST LOCAL EMIRATI RESTAURANTS TO VISIT IN DUBAI

A journey into Dubai’s past could well begin through the door of a quaint tea house in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, once known as Al Bastakiya. As you step into the Arabian Tea House (although old-timers would still prefer to call it the Basta Art Café), you are transported into the old times – a stone house with wind towers, turquoise benches, white rattan chairs, lace curtains and beautiful flowers surroundyou – enjoy your cup of gahwa (traditional Arabic coffee) in the shade of an old tree while the languid air swoons around you in the middle of a lazy morning or peaceful afternoon. This old-world charm is one of the few authentic examples Dubai has of a life gone by, when her people would meet and take refuge in tea houses, not just to escape the heat of the day but to bond with each other, relax and talk business.

Arabian Tea House: Good Emirati fare is, sadly, hard to come by in Dubai – but if you dig deep you’ll uncover Arabian Tea House. Of the city’s three locations, the Bastakiya branch is the prettiest and where the tourists flock (read Instagrammable) – but for balmy Dubai winters, I love the quaint patio of the more obscure outpost opposite Jumeirah Beach Hotel in The Mall. I first tried this place on the recommendation of Natasha Sideris (Avli & Tashas fame) demolishing her go-to dish of grilled halloumi, ordering seconds, and returning for their sumptuous breakfast trays which are more representative of the national cuisine.
