"The best menemen! Served in a unfussy environment with very quick service, my food arrived piping hot with less than 5 minutes of ordering! And it was absolutely delicious, (menemen with fried meat and extra cheese). What I also like that they have chilli flakes which I was so happy to see because not all restaurants have that option but they do here and it elevates the tastiness so much. The service is friendly too."

"I have been thinking about this restaurant a lot after trying it. It was a late breakfast with my girlfriend on a hot sunny day, we were welcomed by the staff with some free fresh bread loaf. The kaymak cream & honey was the most delicious dip i had in 2025. The chicken soup was just perfect and reminded me of home and the days when I was still young and innocent. My gf ordered the tomato omelette and fould never shut up about it for the rest of the day. Overall good experience."

Also known as “Lades Menemen” (‘menemen’ being a type of a very popular Turkish breakfast dish made mainly with eggs & tomatoes), Lades is an old breakfast spot that is famous in the Taksim area of Beyoğlu district. As is the case with almost all “famous” places, it might let you down a little bit (I’ve had much better menemens in a lot of different places) but if you are around, you should try it too, maybe just to be able to say that you have tried it when someone eventually recommends it to you… But I’d say go here only if you are on a short trip (like 1 day in Istanbul or max 2) and don’t have a chance to get to other neighborhoods famous for traditional breakfast. And, you may love it as well, as the idea of a perfect menemen depends from person to person.

**If Lades, which means “wishbone” in Turkish, provided an actual wishbone alongside the usual post-meal wet wipe and toothpick, we’d close our eyes and make a wish that we could eat their tandır (oven-roasted baby lamb) seven days a week.
