"A newfound hidden gem for me! We recently had dinner at Cafe Restaurant de V, and we had a great meal.

We ordered the bread with dips as a starter, and for mains we had the daily special (it was pork rollade with baked potatoes and harricot verts, served with wine jus), roast chicken, and steak. All meat was well-seasoned and tasty. Pork rollade was my favorite, I really enjoyed the slightly warm and subtle seasoning they used. The baked potatoes were crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside, just as it should be. The wine jus they served it with was perhaps one of the best jus I have had so far! The food is really good value for the money. We had to skip dessert because their portions were quite big, but I'll definitely try out their apple pie next time. I wish they had more wines by the glass, though.

Apart from the food, the service - especially by Dutch standards - was really good! The staff is very friendly and attentive. Our food arrived fast too, and overall we were really happy with the service.

We dined outside on the boat, but their indoor space looks very cozy as well. Apparently they also have some live music when it's colder outside.

EDIT: V proves yet again that it's one of Delft locals best kept secret. We finally made it to their Sunday roast, the dish of the day was a varkensrollade served with roasted vegetables, potatoes and a drizzle of wine jus. The pork was well marinated and the just was on point, complementing the meat. We also had their beef steak that never disappoints, the pepper sauce brings a lot of flavor and smoked notes.

Do save some room for dessert, they make most of them themselves. My favorite so far is the stoogpeer tarte tatin, warm, spiced with cinnamon and other baking spices served with salted caramel ice cream. The creme brulee is also a twist on the classic with some bailey's in it.

Highly recommend, a place that stood the test of time.

EDIT 2: As I approach the end of my "ribs search" in Delft, I must say the massiv ribs at V are among the best in town. It has a sweet ketchup marinade, and it's served with salad, pickled onions and fries."

"The food was really good and the staff was very friendly. A very young guy doing his best. Unfortunately, there was a student association event and the noise was unbearable. Only toward the dessert time was when one more experienced waitress offered us to change to another table further from the event area."
