Flanking the wide boulevard on the west side of the Grote Markt, right in the heart of Den Haag, stands Bleyenburg, a curious-looking, three-storey modern block that takes its name from the owner of the wallpaper shop that long inhabited these premises. With the shop well and truly gone, a couple of entrepreneurial locals have turned the place into a real hot spot with a club in the basement, a restaurant on the ground floor and, best of the lot, a rooftop terrace bar called Het Dak. Cocktails are the order of the day on the rooftop, which offers great views over the city centre, and there are themed evening specials, too – Thursday night is currently Taco Night with tacos, nachos and margaritas (€25, £20, for two) on offer.

Located very centrally, right by the Grote Markt in town (literally translating to Main Market square) and opposite the Metro stop, sits Bleyenberg. It’s a restaurant with roof terrace – the first in The Hague, coffee and cocktail bar, nightclub and meeting spaces. I had the opportunity to sample their cuisine and chose two appetisers of risotto with asparagus and grilled broccoli with cashew nuts, garlic and lemon.

We stopped for a drink and lunch at Bleyenberg, a trendy bar/restaurant complete with a rooftop terrace. The establishment, named after its seventy-four-year-old owner, has a Mediterranean style kitchen and basement club for those looking to continue the night into the early hours. I can see myself returning to this bar on future trips to The Hague: sunshine, cocktails with a rooftop bar and I’m there!

Whenever I’m working from home, but feel I need to leave my apartment because my brain has stopped working, I often go to Bleyenberg. With a cafe/ restaurant on the ground floor, a rooftop terrace on sunny days and a club in the basement, this place is huge. But they’ve done a great job making it feel warm and welcoming with different sections, vintage furniture and plants hanging from the ceiling.

On our weekend break to The Hague, we spent one very fun night at Bleyenberg. A vast building that used to be the wallpaper store ‘Kwantum’, Bleyenberg is a multi-functional space that transforms into a restaurant, bar and nightclub come the evening. It also has a fantastic rooftop bar, filled with locals sipping cocktails and enjoying views of the city as the sun sets.

We had lunch at Bleyenberg in The Hague – which (side note) is fabulously decorated (pink walls, greenery, and cement floors) and also has The Hague’s first fancy rooftop bar and underground music club. It’s v hipster and the food is fantaaaastic. Spanish soup with Manchego crostini was a favourite, and the Potato Tortilla and Iberian ham salad went down a treat too.

Onder de relatief nieuwe restaurants van Den Haag, is het vier verdiepingen tellende restaurant Bleyenberg waarschijnlijk het bijzonderste concept. Op de begane grond vind je De Kantine, een sfeervolle plek voor koffie, taart, lunch en een volwaardige maaltijd. Helemaal boven zit Het Dak, een heus rooftopterras met palmbomen.

You can find a coffee bar, a restaurant, a cocktail bar, meeting spaces, and also a club in the basement. You can basically come here in the morning for breakfast or a coffee and decide to stay until the evening.

Here, you can enjoy delicious coffee, indulge in Mediterranean cuisine, or relax with a cocktail in the evening. The rooftop bar, in particular, is a must for the perfect sunset shot. In the basement, there’s a club where you can dance off that one extra cocktail with some amazing moves.

The menu features small dishes to share, so you can taste a lot more than just one meal. They make colorful, quirky cocktails and have board games for the game players among us. You can take a seat on the sunny street terrace, or inside the restaurant or on the sunny rooftop terrace.

At Bleyenberg, you have everything in one location and almost don’t want to leave. Bleyenburg is located in the heart of Den Haag, and it is the place for inspiration, work, and fun. Especially the rooftop bar, night club and private karaoke rooms are a must-visit if you ask us.
