Reviews Summary

The Charm Dining Gallery is praised for its authentic Phuket cuisine, charming ambiance reminiscent of a grandmother's home, and beautiful vintage decor. Diners rave about the rich flavors and delicate preparation of dishes, with many considering it a must-visit in Phuket Old Town. While generally well-received, some found the portions to be small for the price, and one reviewer noted an unprofessional interaction with a waiter.

"We found this restaurant based on reviews, and it didn’t disappoint. The place itself reminded me of my grandmother’s home, which gave it such a cozy, homey vibe. The menu had so many great options to choose from. We ordered a lot of food, and everything was amazing. The level of spice and flavor was perfect. Definitely recommend this place!"

Shirin Montebare

"The Charm captures the golden days of the Peranakan with its embellishments and elegant finishing tucked away in the heart of Phuket’s historical Old Town. Dining here is a wholesome experience where your eyes feast first before your palate. We enjoyed the entire experience and it truly deserves all the recognition given. Make sure to make a little stroll in the night market after dinner.

Recommended dishes:
- Moo Hong – a rich and tender braised pork belly dish, deeply flavored with local spices.
- Crab Curry and Eggs with Buns(personal favourite) – aromatic delight best savored with soft, fluffy buns."

Adeline Yeong

"Very well decorated environment, with beautiful blue and white porcelain plate. Service is good, nobody will interrupt you during your reading of the menu. The best part is food. This is the best Tom Yam soup I have ever had. The only problem is the portion, bigger should be better."

What to eat and drink in Phuket

No wonder mŏo hong, or stewed pork belly, has stood the test of time. Brought to Phuket from Southeast China in the 19th century, the island’s signature dish has a delightfully mellow taste. Slow-cooked in soy sauce until it falls off the bone, the tender meat is seasoned with coriander roots, star anise, garlic and black pepper to add warmth and complexity to what would otherwise be a rich, sweet pork dish with dark soy and a drizzle of palm sugar.

Bangkok's guide to where to eat in Phuket

Phuket has long been called the Peranakan capital of Thailand. Sadly, there is a dearth of restaurants serving authentic Peranakan fare (a cuisine invented by Straits Chinese who lived in merchant cities in the Malayu Peninsula, including Phuket, Malacca, Singapore and, most importantly, Penang). It’s the type of home-cooked cuisine Phuketians of old would eat within their walled rowhouses.
