What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Nahm is lauded for its sophisticated and authentic Thai cuisine, with many praising the exquisite flavors and beautiful presentation. Diners often highlight the tasting menu as a worthwhile experience. However, some reviews mention inconsistencies in service and a lack of detailed dish explanations, which detract from the otherwise high-end experience.
"A Refined Evening at One Michelin-Starred Gem
Dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant comes with a certain level of expectation — a promise of artistry on the plate, harmony in every bite, and service so seamless it feels almost invisible. Our first experience at a restaurant of this caliber not only met those expectations but, in many ways, quietly exceeded them.
From the moment we were seated, the experience unfolded with the kind of effortless grace that only comes from a kitchen and staff fully in command of their craft. The evening was centered around a beautifully curated five-course tasting menu — a procession of dishes that felt both intentional and intuitive, each course building elegantly upon the last. The presentation was understated yet precise, with every element placed on the plate with purpose.
The beverage selection was equally thoughtful. Eschewing any pretentious pairings, we opted for what felt right to us: a well-selected glass of wine and a Thai whiskey cocktail, both of which complemented the meal with quiet confidence rather than demanding attention.
Each dish arrived as its own work of art — no over-the-top tableside theatrics, no need for lengthy explanations or deconstruction. The food spoke for itself, effortlessly combining bold flavors with refined restraint. Traditional flavors were honored, but never exaggerated; simplicity was celebrated, never sacrificed. The result was a meal that felt grounded in tradition, yet elevated through technique and precision.
What struck us most was the balance — not just on the plate, but in the entire experience. There was no pretense, no sense that the restaurant was trying too hard to impress. Instead, the focus was clear: flawless execution, exquisite ingredients, and a respect for the diner’s own journey through the meal.
For anyone wondering whether a Michelin star really signals something extraordinary, this evening was proof that it does. This restaurant is not only deserving of its accolades but stands as a reminder that excellence does not need to be flashy — it only needs to be intentional. A must-visit for those who appreciate cuisine that tells a story, presented with elegance, and served with quiet confidence. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an elevated dining experience that delivers on every promise."

"Lovely food, but let down by the service.
Not sure what happened, but the service team seems to be rather off-mode. It was hard to get service when no one was around. Definitely not a standard expected. The lunch service had 3 tables occupied, surely not a peak load situation.
Food wise, quality and execution are high and fresh.
However, there was none to little explanation given for the dishes served. A rather missed opportunity to introduce the local dishes and used ingredients to a guest who is not familiar with all the dishes on the menu.
Overall, acceptable food, with no outstanding dish to remember."

"Definitely will return.
Love their ambience and the thin crystal stems. Dark lattice wood made the room feeling cool, especially when one comes in from the hot weather, and the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.
Good service and great food, too much of it - we've their tasting menu.
I particularly liked the stir-fried young fiddlehead ferns and Wagyu beef. Two soups, one pungent which I like and the yellow cream was sweet, which I don't like: pretty extreme.
The outdoor section of the restaurant is on the narrow side of the rectangle pool. At night, the pool looks equally beautiful."

3 Best Thai Restaurants In Bangkok That Are Worth Paying For
Perhaps the greatest authority on Thai food – and certainly from outside Thailand – Australian chef David Thompson is the man behind both Nahm restaurant in Bangkok, named as Asia’s best restaurant, and its now-closed predecessor of the same name in London, which was the world’s first Thai restaurant to earn a Michelin star. The branch at Bangkok’s Metropolitan Hotel serves up anything except the bland, gentrified food some expect from a foreign chef putting new twists on old Thai classics – instead Nahm delivers the kind of full-on flavour experience that makes for a truly memorable meal. The only Thai restaurant to be included in prestigious Restaurant Magazine's Top 50 Restaurants in the World, Nahm lives up to its billing by serving some of the best Thai food one can find in Bangkok. Ideal for a taste of one of the world’s most influential Thai restaurants…. Though Nahm London closed due to the lack of quality fresh Thai ingredients in the capital, and the compromise that forced on the cooking, there’s no danger of the produce being found wanting at the Bangkok rendition.
