The Last Fisherman is a tropical restaurant set right on Ao Nang Beach’s southern part. This bar and restaurant's structure was built using recovered materials such as thatch, bamboo and driftwood, It offers its punters a chill-out place at which they can dine with their toes in the sand under the shade of coconut and tropical almond trees. The Last Fisherman is certainly not a fine-dining venue, but it serves pretty decent food – western snacks, Thai favourites, and barbecue in the evening – as well as a great choice of excellent cocktails that are highly appreciated while things are cooling down at sunset time.

If that’s a bit much for you, grab a seat at one of the wooden benches provided by a little shack serving coffee, cold beer and fresh coconuts nearby.

There are a number of low key little ‘bar areas’ in Ao Nang. One about half way up the beachfront and down a small soi that opens up into an esplanade with a two floored ‘entertainment centre’ at the back. This is ‘Center Point’ and it hosts a variety of bars both outside and inside – Airplane, KR Bar and Pub, Smile Bar, Rocky Bar, Chang Bar and Cave Bar to name a few.

The Last Fisherman: The place I ended up going to most often in Ao Nang was The Last Fisherman, which is right on the water on the end of the beach closer to the monkeys and Railay. I just really liked the kids that worked here and I liked the food a lot too. I had a great Thai omelette one night and a fantastic Massaman curry another night.
