I've been eating pizza 🍕 all over the world for 30 years. This place had one of the worst I've ever eaten 😕, expensive because of its prime location. Stay away... there are much better pizzas even in aonang!

"We were just strolling around when we saw this huge crowd outside a café. And since we were on the lookout for a good pizza spot, we thought — okay, if this many people are eating here, it must be good, right?

The moment that pizza hit the table, we already had a bad feeling. And the second we took a bite — heartbreak. Straight-up disappointment. Honestly, calling it bad would be an understatement. Burnt, dry, tasteless, zero cheese — it was basically hard bread trying to cosplay as pizza.

Ao Nang has the best selection of western and international dining on mainland Krabi, and is particularly strong in Italian food, though the only remaining Italian-owned restaurant on the beachfront road is Azzurra, which has been running for close to 20 years, and is particularly strong on home made pasta. For more real Italian taste, you will need to venture up the hill on the Klong Haeng Road to the fabulous Umberto’s, run by an Italian chef of the same name. He serves up excellent filled pasta; melting risottos; regional specialties and a selection of high quality meats, including Wagyu beef.
Where to eat in Ao Nang, Thailand
Our favourite of those we’ve tried is Azzurra, sporting wall murals of Tuscan scenes to go with sea views from across the beach road. Open since 1998, it offers a solid wine selection and a good range of antipasti and homemade pasta—the taglietelle with seafood was fantastic. It’s not cheap but well worth the splurge.
