Reviews Summary

Tali Wiru offers an unforgettable, albeit expensive, fine dining experience under the stars with breathtaking views of Uluru. Diners rave about the exquisite four-course meals, the unique use of native ingredients, and the magical atmosphere. However, some guests found the overall experience to be pricey for the value, with occasional issues like unexpected rain impacting the ambiance.

"The most unforgettable experience of our trip to Uluru. While it’s expensive, it’s absolutely worth it. Canapés and champagne as you watch the sunset, the most beautifully prepared four course meal, a stunning Star chat by the very knowledge Michael and then a beautiful bush talk around the camp fire. We looked at other dinner in the desert options and we are so glad we picked this one. The numbers are small, kept to around 20 I think and each group had their own table, rather than having to share with strangers. It’s a dinner that we will never forget and I feel so lucky we got to experience it."

Lauren Van Dyk

"No hyperbole, best dinner experience my wife and I have ever had. Impeccable service starting with Mike who drove and also taught us about the constellations. Very intimate environment. If you visit Uluru you have to do this. It’s worth every penny."

Evan Closky

"The Tali Wiru sunset dining experience was absolutely magical and the highlight of our trip to Uluru. Watching the sun set over the desert while enjoying champagne together felt like pure romance. The multi-course menu was incredible, showcasing native ingredients with perfect wine pairings (especially the bin 389 Cabernet-Shiraz). The service was flawless, and we especially loved the warmth and attentiveness from Shela, who made the evening feel so personal and special. Dining under the stars with cultural stories and the beauty of the outback made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience we will never forget!!"

How to Visit Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in Australia

One of the most memorable meals you can enjoy while staying at Ayers Rock Resort is a sublime desert dining experience called Tali Wiru, which means “beautiful dune” in the Anangu language. It takes place on a viewing platform in the red dunes a few miles from Uluru where diners can watch as the rock’s surface changes from orange to a deep purple as the sun sets. Twenty guests feast on an exquisite four-course dinner featuring native ingredients while being treated to Anangu stories, a didgeridoo player, and after-dinner stargazing with Anangu perspectives on the constellations.

How to see Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in the Northern Territory

As its name – meaning “beautiful dune” in the Pitjantjatjara language – suggests, this seasonal experience opens in new window is fine dining with a difference, hosted in the desert sand on a small rise that neatly frames Uluru beyond. With cameras in hand, we stand amid she-oaks and mulga trees, saltbush and bush tomato plants, as the setting sun paints Uluru’s surface in gossamer watercolour washes of yellow, pink and purple. A menu, informed by the surrounding bush landscape, has us sitting down to spinifex baked beetroot with goat cheese, buttery grilled scallop with pickled emu apple, and kangaroo jerky with crispbread and quandong (“a desert peach”).

Restaurant reviews - Arnguli Grill, Yulara

The menu reads well here; like our experience at Tali Wiru we saw plenty of evidence that the chefs here try to incorporate as many local indigenous products and flavours as possible. At Arnguli (a word that, in the local language, means ‘bush plum’), a fair few local grains and seeds are in evidence. Having spied a couple of very intriguing-sounding tasting plates on the menu that came with matching wine flights, we opted to forego a pre-dinner drink and go straight to the action, but first there was a delightful little amuse bouche of a chickpea hummus crostini and some bush ‘dukkah’.
