What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tairroir offers a highly acclaimed fine dining experience with two Michelin stars, lauded for its innovative Taiwanese-French fusion cuisine and impeccable service. While many praise the exquisite presentation and unique flavor combinations, some diners feel the price point doesn't always match the culinary innovation, with a few finding certain dishes less impactful than expected.
"3 stars Taiwanese fusion - overall we enjoyed but not sure if this is worthy of 3*
Love their signature taro puree, sweet corn squid, crab and scallop.
My least favourite would be the lobster which I feel it doesn’t go well with the green sauce."

"Had the festive holiday menu. To be honest, not sure how it’s a 3-star restaurant. The food was quite mediocre. Most of the things weren’t anything special, the ribeye (main course) was quite lackluster. The desserts were also quite forgettable.
The sommelier wasn’t very helpful in picking wines. There was 1 very interesting Taiwanese white wine though: lychee aroma but very crisp on the palette.
The best thing was the celery foam on top of a warm nut-based soup. The food looks pretty though (photos attached).
Also, the space was pretty small and I was surprised how close the tables were. It didn’t feel intimate, rather it felt like you could hear everyone’s conversations…"

"Loved this place!!!
Definitely is a three star experience
Each dish was well done and the flavors fit together deliciously
The server was very knowledgeable as well and able to explain each dish extremely clearly
She was also very attentive by noticing that we were left handed and put our utensils on the left side for us without us mentioning
These little details made the experience especially special for us
There is also a pairing that you can do
We chose to try the non alcohol wine options
There are 3 drinks that are non alcoholic but made from wine
We strongly recommend the Pinot Noir!!
Our favorites were the appetizers and desserts at the end
However for us it is definitely a lot of food
We were quite full by the end of our meal
Tastes almost the same as red wine
Make sure to make a reservation in advance!!!"

Taichung native chef Kai Ho’s Tairroir restaurant is a clever play on two words: Taiwan and terroir, which is also reflective of his training that’s equal parts French and Chinese cuisine. The chef trained in the now-defunct Guy Savoy in Singapore as well as alongside chef Julien Royer when he was at Jaan. Given such a background, the dishes that emerge out of the kitchen (in your choice of six or eight courses) sport a heavy French influence while retaining its Taiwanese soul.

Some of my favourite fine dining restaurants are RAW, Taïrroir, and MUME. Another restaurant I have not tried but is on my bucket list is Logy, as I’ve known Chef Ryogo for a long time and we had the chance to cook together when he was at Florilège.
