Reviews Summary

Addiction Aquatic Development is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh seafood, particularly its sashimi and sushi, offering a unique market-meets-dining experience. While the quality of the food is consistently praised, some diners note that service can be inconsistent and the standing-only nature of some dining areas may not suit everyone. The prices are considered reasonable for the quality, though some find the overall experience a bit pricey, and the cash-only policy can be inconvenient.

"I've been here a handful of times now, and whenever I'm in the area, I always make sure to stop by. It's a great fish market with a wide selection of fresh seafood, high-quality beef, produce, alcohol, bentos, and hot food. Inside the market, there's a standing seafood bar, a wine tasting bar, and even a hot pot spot on the second floor. There's also a restaurant with a cute outdoor seating area and a cafe/dessert stand. The service is always excellent. Definitely check this place out if you get the chance!"

"They offer a selection of fresh seafood that can be prepared on-site or prepared ahead of time. Since their snow crab is good for both of us, we tried it. King crabs are larger and, naturally, more expensive. a choice between steaming or grilling. You can eat outside if you choose freshly cooked food, and you can eat the remaining food indoors or outdoors. The ikura and tuna were very delicious and highly recommended.

To be honest, it was tiring having a meal on the table without chair.😅"

Hungry Woman

"The seafood here is incredibly fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. From uni hand rolls to premium sashimi platters, every bite tasted clean and high quality. The ambience and layout make it feel more like a curated seafood market experience than a typical restaurant.

However, service left much to be desired. We had an initial server who was shockingly rude, bordering on hostile, and later spent about 15 minutes chatting with a friend while her teammates hustled to serve guests. The rest of the staff did their best, but overall service felt amateurish compared to the level of the food.

Great for food lovers—but don’t expect polished hospitality."

The Best Seafood Restaurants In Taipei

Considered by many to be paradise for seafood lovers, this is actually three restaurants in one. A sushi bar, a hot pot restaurant, and a Korean barbecue offer diners a wide range of choices. Add to that the fact that it’s located in the same building as a fish market, and you have a recipe for one of the finest seafood culinary experiences you can get.

Aquatic Addiction Development (AAD) is quickly becoming a must-see place for seafood-loving foodies. Carved out of the Taiwan Fish Market, this is a brand new and modern type of market that has a little bit for everyone. Near the entrance you have what looks like a wholesale area with tanks filled with fresh catches. From there, you step into the main section of AAD which is a cross between a really up-scale supermarket and sit down sushi and seafood bar.

What To Eat In Taipei

Street food occupies the low end of the price spectrum, but there's recommendable dining at the very top as well. One stunning example is RAW, a restaurant from Taiwanese chef André Chiang, who gives classic Taiwanese food a bit of the classic French treatment. Taipei is home to some of the world's best sushi restaurants outside of Japan, including RyuGin Taipei, an outpost of a three-Michelin-starred sushi restaurant in Tokyo.

Visiting Taipei with Kids in 2025: Ideas from a Local Family

The old Taipei fish market has been converted to an upscale seafood grocery store and collection of seafood restaurants called Addiction Aquatic Development. My kids enjoyed going here to see the aquariums filled with giant king crabs, lobsters, and more. After that, head into the gourmet grocery store to buy super fresh take-away sushi and other more kid-friendly treats, then head to nearby Rongxing Park for a picnic.
