I visited Lucerne this summer and dined twice at Wirtshaus Taube. It is central and near the river. In fact, the one night we ate outside at a table directly along the river.

Wirtshaus Taube is a charming traditional Swiss restaurant in the heart of Lucerne. Housed in a historic building dating back to 1480, it offers a cozy, authentic atmosphere with wood-paneled walls and rustic decor. The menu features classic Swiss dishes like fondue, raclette, and rösti, alongside local specialties and seasonal offerings.

Taube in Luzern is a good option - nice restaurant, a little on the pricey side. The Rathaus Brauerei is also a good choice, although I just checked their latest menu and seems like the Älplermagronen is no longer on the menu - a shame, because it was really good and better value. You could double check.

Wirtshaus Taube sits alongside the river, on a cobbled street, with indoor and outdoor tables. The menu is written in Luzerner dialect, but you can ask for an English version. Try milk soup, cheese and potatoes, pork sausages, and a wide range of vegetable based dishes.

If you’re searching for hearty, traditional Swiss food, the Wirtshaus Taube is the right place to go. Dishes like the signature meat loaf are cooked and prepared according to old recipes and served up in a rustic dining room complete with sturdy wooden furniture.

Wirtshaus Taube is among the best “Lucerne Restaurants” for traditional Swiss food. Here you will find genuine Swiss dishes with lots of meat, cooked mainly with local ingredients. I would not recommend the restaurant for vegetarians and vegans.

We had a delicious hotdog here, with all the right toppings and great flavour. We sat inside, which is a pretty small place in general. They didn’t have too much on the menu, focused mostly on Swiss cuisine, but they all sure looked good.

At the Taube, Lucerne and Swiss dishes are freshly prepared according to old original recipes. Just like in grandmother's day. The traditional inn is located in the small town of Lucerne and welcomes its guests in a rustic ambience.

Wirtshaus Taube is located near the water and offers riverfront seating. They have a great menu selection featuring Swiss cuisine. If they are trying to get you to stay a while with their views of the river, it works!

Taube (at Burgerstrasse 3) is the place to go for delicious local Lucerne dishes. Shamrock (at Wagenbachgasse 3) is a nice Irish pub. Gourmindia (at Baselstrasse 31) is a fabulous Indian restaurant.
