What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Restaurant Les 5 Portes is praised for its unique French-Japanese fusion cuisine and consistently high-quality dishes, particularly the foie gras risotto and lamb shank. While the ambiance is noted as more bar-like, the food and attentive service make it a standout choice for a good meal. Some reviewers mention noise levels and occasional minor service delays during busy periods, and one noted a disappointing cocktail.
"Kind of a local hidden gem💎 ! I kept coming back for the foie gras risotto and some pints of good beer 🍺 . The place hinted a bar experience, but it is much more than that.
The ambiance is laid-back, but the food is a 🌟.
On multiple visits, we tried :
- foie gras teriyaki sauce and mushroom risotto,
- lamb shank
- steam whole fish
- grilled seafood platter
The service was friendly and we enjoyed the time here. Dinner hours were way busier than lunch hours. Only minor delays in evening services cuz they don’t have a lot of staffs but was acceptable!
If you’re looking for a place that blends a casual bar atmosphere with surprisingly good Asian fusion cuisine, this spot is definitely worth a visit."

"Excellent! I have been eating here as frequently as possible while in Geneva, yum yum"

"It has much more of a bar vibe than restaurant, and therefore one would expect good drinks along with food.
We had booked a table for dinner, and they did comply with our request for a window table, but the restaurant was basically empty when we came so it felt natural.
Service is friendly enough, though it seems they only were two people servicing the entire area (which did eventually become busy), but they were still attentive to us which was great (though they were visibly and understandably in a hurry).
The food was alright, tapas was great, the risotto had a picture with much more seafood and shrimps, but came with none of that (it was a shrimp risotto with no shrimp??). We did order one drink (whiskey sour) which unfortunately was too disappointing so we only tasted it and couldn’t even finish it. There was basically no sourness and no sugar in it at all, it would be completely believable if they later said that they accidentally swapped their syrup/sugar with regular water. It was an expensive 16 CHF for two disappointing sips…
anyhow, the vibe seems nice enough but our experience was sadly not the greatest. might be better another time?"

Where to Eat in Geneva
My favorite restaurant in Geneva and where I had my first date with my husband. Located in the Paquis, Cinq Portes is a casual spot for dinner with friends, date night, or Sunday brunch. I’ve been too many times to count and have tried everything on the menu – it’s all really good (start with a Lillet Blanc cocktail, try the the lamb shank, tuna carpaccio, or lasagna, and finish with the tarte tatin).
