What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise Restaurant Löwenzorn for its exceptional traditional Swiss cuisine and friendly, attentive service, especially within its charming historic setting. The cozy courtyard dining is a particular highlight during warmer months. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, one review noted a concerning instance of discriminatory behavior.
"A wonderful old restaurant located in the middle of the pretty old town of Basel. Positioned on a slight hill, it's a joy to walk up to it through the quaint streets in the area. The restaurant is traditionally decorated and typical for the area. The menu is well balanced and the food and service are of the highest quality. When it's warm you can sit out in the delightful courtyard at the back and while away the hours. A pleasure to eat here."

"I strongly condemn the discriminatory behavior I experienced at Löwenzorn. Despite being the very first customer to enter at opening time and take a seat, the staff served two tables that arrived after me, while dismissing my order request with “one minute.” It became clear that this treatment was due to the fact that I am Turkish — an unacceptable act of racism. Naturally, I left the establishment. I call for a boycott of Löwenzorn."
ASLI ALTUNALAN
"It wasn't my first visit to this restaurant, but it was definitely memorable this time again, especially since I had a larger group of ten people with me. Half of them were from the other side of the globe, from Australia. This restaurant is one of the best in Basel, offering exceptional food, a special friendly atmosphere, and an ideal central location. Highly recommended for expats, tourists, and visitors!"
