Lilla Ego is celebrated for its world-class, innovative Swedish cuisine and beautifully presented dishes that offer exceptional value. Diners rave about the thoughtful flavors and the relaxed yet professional atmosphere, with many calling it the best meal they've had in Stockholm. While reservations are notoriously difficult to secure, the opportunity to snag bar seating for a chance at a table is highly recommended.
"Absolutely fantastic. Every dish was delicious, including the desserts—especially the apple one. The service was excellent, and our waiter was super friendly and had a great sense of humor.
As expected for this type of restaurant, portions are small, but it's all about savoring the richness of each dish. If you're looking for a filling meal, this might not be the place, but if you enjoy a refined culinary experience, it's perfect.
Reservations are probably needed in advance, but it’s totally worth it. The quality is outstanding for the price.
The only downside to the ambiance was the limited space—people kept bumping into my chair. Also, the music felt a bit off for the vibe, but nothing major.
If I’m back in town, I’ll definitely return!"

"This was the best meal we had in Stockholm and we did not have reservations and arrived at about 6 for 4 of us. We did have to wait about 50 minutes and they do not have waiting area for you to sit so be aware of that but you can stand outside or inside corridor and have drinks while waiting
It was absolutely worth it as everything single dish whether the bread and butter, the starters to mains and dessert was absolutely fantastic"

"Lilla Ego is a cozy spot that delivers big on flavor with its creative small plates. While it’s a bit on the pricier side, the quality and presentation make it well worth it. Perfect for sharing a few standout dishes over a drink—definitely a place to check out if you enjoy thoughtful, well-executed food in a relaxed setting.
We’re not saying we have a BIG ego, just a LillaEgo 🫣😬

My favourite neighbourhood restaurant is called Lilla Ego, in Vasastan (mains from £23; lillaego.com). It’s Swedish food without all the fatty parts, and not expensive. They do a daily menu of improvised cooking that’s seasonal and fresh – things such as tuna with wasabi, coconut and cauliflower or reindeer with mushroom, pea and pepper.

Lilla Ego is led by two award-winning chefs, Daniel Räms and Tom Sjöstedt, who focus on creating innovative Swedish dishes with a twist. Eating out alone: Stockholm's best restaurants for solo diners
