The Hideout Lounge offers both local specialities and Western cuisine. This can be a great restaurant for when you’re halfway through your trip in Sri Lanka and craving something “not so local”. 😉 You can either go “full Western” and order a burger or pasta, or go for the local dishes with a Western twist.

Luckily, I wasn't too far from Hideout Lounge, a cool all-day eatery close to the southeast end of Kandy Lake. I had a delicious and nicely presented pumpkin curry, with a creative and colourful mocktail. The wait staff were super-friendly and it was a fun, relaxed place to spend the evening.

Perched against the stunning backdrop of Kandy’s iconic lake and mountain range, Hideout Lounge Kandy is not your typical hill-country eatery. From the moment we stepped into the bohemian-inspired space, it was clear this wasn’t just another restaurant – it was a lifestyle destination.

This restaurant is 52 Sangaraja Mawatha, Kandy 20000, Sri Lanka, only 0.6 kilometers from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Its widespread menu offers vegetarian and vegan options too. The grilled tuna is very popular in this cafe.

The Hideout Lounge is definitely one of my favorite places in Kandy. It really offers a place to relax amidst the busy streets of Kandy. Here you will find great cocktails and delicious Western food as well as Sri Lankan cuisine.

With dorms available from $6 USD a night and privates around double that price, Hipsters Hideout Lounge is a favourite with backpackers. The breakfast is very generous and the atmosphere is great!
