Breakfast is an important meal and social occasion in Spain, with workers often taking a break for it at about 11am (imagine asking for an hour off for breakfast in the UK….) Where better to head when in Seville, then, than a wonderfully-decorated café known for offering one of the best breakfasts in the city?. Vegetarians will not be bored or disappointed here: a huge range of fresh juices and organic coffees is available, as are delicious homemade jams and marmalades, pastries and tarts (the carrot cake is incredible). La Cacharreri is small, but it’s worth waiting around for a table as breakfast here will set any vegetarian up for the day.

This was the place that did trendy breakfast in Seville before Seville even knew what that meant!. It’s extremely popular and even with the recently acquired space next door there is still a queue on weekends, but it does have some of the most delicious and creative breakfast options in the city, toasts or otherwise!. La Cacharrería’s basic tostadas will set you back between about €4-€6+ depending on what you top them with, and the gourmet tostadas are €9.90, but given it’s such a unique breakfast place in Seville, it’s worth it!

Located just a short stroll from the Las Setas monument, La Cacharreira adds a touch of contemporary flair to traditional Seville with its exposed brickwork and charming chalkboard menus that are reminiscent of fashionable neighborhoods like Shoreditch or Soho. La Cacharreria offers a delightful array of beverages, ranging from a diverse selection of coffees to teas and refreshing juices. The café's food also stands out, particularly the carrot cake that has garnered well-deserved praise from patrons.

Seville, and Spain in general, may not be widely known for their desserts, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a sweet tooth!. The afternoon snack, or ‘la merienda’, is when you’ll see locals filing into pastry shops all over Seville to get their sweet hit!. La Campana (Calle Sierpes, 1), a pastry shop which has been serving locals since 1885, is THE place to get a delicious pastry in the city and their torrijas (Spanish-style French toast bathed in sugar and honey) are unmissable.

We return to Regina Street, in the old town to be precise, to sample another cup of coffee in a famous establishment. The Cacharrería has one of the most original decorations among Sevillian coffee shops, making clear to visitors the reason for its unique name. According to the cafe’s managers, each pot has been carefully displayed in the place it occupies, a thoroughness that, incidentally, is also applied in the preparation of coffee.

Santa Catalina is one of the most fashionable areas in Seville, with dozens of boutiques, designer stores, and vintage shops for fashionable local shoppers to explore. The early morning crowds tend to take a break at La Cacharrería for open-faced sandwiches, breakfast bowls, freshly-made juices, refreshing smoothies, and other buzzy brunch dishes.

More than a coffee shop, it is a reference point in the neighbourhood of Calle Feria, specifically in Calle Regina number 14, where this establishment is located. It not only serves coffee, but also breakfast, brunch and snacks. In addition to having excellent coffee and food services, it is a very welcoming place, where you can stop to take pictures of every corner of the place.

On Saturday morning, we woke early and grabbed breakfast at a tiny café called La Cacharreria (their bagels are to die for) before enduring a 30-minute queue to get into the Real Alcázar de Sevilla. We had pre-booked our tickets as I’d heard the queue for non-ticket holders can be hours deep and in this Andalusian sun, I can assure you, it really wouldn’t have been much fun.

We stumbled upon La Cacharreria in the Regina neighbourhood, near the Metropol Parasol and decided to stop for brunch. It’s pretty small and gets quite busy, but we just managed to nab a table outside as someone was leaving. Josh got a very cute muesli and yoghurt pot, but I went all out and got the “Spanish Brunch”.

I stepped into La Cacharrería for the first time for a cold drink on a sweltering midday. Ordering an iced coffee and a slice of almond cake, Betty mentioned they were going to start opening the bar – charming with its mismatched tables and chairs – for breakfast. Famous last words, as the place is always swarming.

I first discovered La Cacharrería Café back in 2020 and was thrilled to see how it has evolved when I revisited in 2023. Situated just behind Las Setas, this café has always been a bustling spot, and for good reason.

This place has some dang good breakfast food and some great coffee. They have sweeter dessert style coffee choices on their menu like vanilla bean mochas and white chocolate caramel mochas, among others. Their presentation is very nice because of how they layer the different ingredients that make up the drink.

La Cacharreria is the type of place one has in mind when thinking of where to eat in Seville. Available for breakfast, dinner, as well as for late-night adventures, it is a lovely traditional place with delicious food and an authentic feel. The staff is amazingly friendly and the prices are very affordable.

I love the breakfasts at La Cacharrería, but expect to wait a long time to enjoy them. As it's often understaffed, you truly have to be in a relaxed mood to enjoy coming here. But, if patient, you'll be rewarded with homemade bread and marmalades, sweet freshly squeezed orange juice, and great coffee.

One thing I love about it is the decoration, which is so random and cool - they even have a brick wall with coins fitting into the little gaps.

I adore La Cacharreria for its old-school rustic vibe with cosy seating, bare brick walls, and hanging plants from the ceiling. There are also a few small outdoor tables along the pedestrian-only street. The atmosphere has a certain buzz to it, with lots of chatter and a good ambience.

La Cacharreria – Perfect for brunch, it may be small but this rustic cafe has so much atmosphere and excellent coffee. Stay for a bagel or enjoy a smoothie and a slice of cake (the Ferrero Rocher cake is gorgeous). Warning – you may want to eat everything on the menu.

La Cacharreria is a trendy breakfast and brunch spot that seems to always be packed so you might have to wait for a table — especially with the outdoor seats. I didn’t have breakfast there but I went back twice for smoothies (which were excellent and fairly priced).
