On arrival in Seville (approx.. 2hrs 30 journey) we did the necessary check-in and had a rest before meeting friends in town at El Comercio 🇪🇸, a bar which closes unintuitively early, in fact it seemed to only be getting busier and busier as 9pm approached. Apparently it operates as a breakfast bar with churros being particularly popular. A classic bodega with striking black and gold frontage and an open front directly onto a shopping street, it really is an inviting view.

I came to Bar El Comercio for one thing only—and judging by the plates streaming out of the kitchen, so did everyone else: chocolate con churros. So we headed to Bar El Comercio, a café that’s been in operation since 1902 and that’s known for it’s churros and chocolate. You might have to squish in beside the locals at the bar, and the atmosphere might be a little hectic with churros and fresh-squeezed orange juice flying everywhere, but we can guarantee it’s worth it.

For me, El Comercio is the must-visit destination for any churro-hunter. This old-school style bar was first opened in 1906 by the same family that owns it today!. Three generations ago, the Rivera family were vacationing in Argentina, and decided to buy a lottery ticket (because; screw-it-we’re-on-vacation).

Every day in Seville, we would walk through the lanes and kept passing this little local bar that looked cool – Bar El Comercio. Then we noticed the “churros” sign and vowed to come back on our last night with Indi in the baby carrier (wasn’t really a pram place). It was such a good shout.
