Reviews Summary

Café Tertulia is lauded for its exceptional coffee, delicious international breakfast options like pancakes and avocado toast, and its cozy atmosphere. The friendly and professional staff, along with the inviting street-side terrace, contribute to a highly recommended dining experience. However, some patrons note issues with service speed due to understaffing and occasional billing inaccuracies.

"Definitely 5 star. I came across the café while out early taking photos. It was a blessing finding such excellent coffee and a tosta with avocado, cream cheese and nuts. Service was friendly and efficient.
The atmosphere was tops. It’s obviously the chosen breakfast coffee stop for many locals.
I recommend it highly.
If you want a great view of the cathedral, go to the right when you leave the café and look left down the first road. It’s worth the visit."

Ashley King

"Great coffee and breakfast spot. The coffee here is great quality, you can tell that they put a lot of care into it without being pretentious. The food was delicious, with the bagel being a lot lighter than I expected.

Great service as well, and accommodating to allergies."

M B

"Great place close to cathedral (5minute walk) situated close a busy road, but this is not an issue for me. Menu very reasonable about €4-5 per plate. They serve snacks and filled bagels which are very tasty. Very food good and quantity just about right. Would recommend"

With chairs so comfortable you may never want to leave, Café Tertulia has that welcoming vibe that just lures you in. And if you’re an expat missing home, this is the place to come for nostalgia, as they serve both American and English style breakfasts. Buttery, soft pastries and typical café con leche are served throughout the day, although the breakfast here is the star of the show.

How to Spend 24 Hours in Santiago de Compostela, Spain

By now, your morning coffee has probably worn off, so to fight the late-afternoon slump and post-meal drowsiness, start walking due west of the cathedral down the residential Rúa das Hortas until you get to Café Tertulia at Rúa do Pombal, Nº 2. This cozy coffee shop’s got whimsical wallpaper, mismatched tea cups, and welcoming baristas that will make you feel at home as you watch the car and foot traffic pass by. You could order some more coffee here, but I always like to get tea since they’ve got an extensive collection of loose-leaf tea that they serve in cute, cast-iron teapots (unlike most cafés, which charge you a euro for a stale teabag).

Word of Mouth: Santiago de Compostela

Snag a seat along the street-side terrace at one of Santiago’s best coffee shops, Café Tertulia. The interior is a mix of exposed brick and blood-red wallpaper (patterned with cartoon dogs posing on chairs), creating an atmosphere that’s cozy and kitsch. Latte art and croissants make for the perfect pairing here, but the juices have also garnered a local following.

My sister took me to breakfast and the service, the atmosphere and especially the food were truly incredible. We are both celiacs and they had toast options that were brutal and they also gave us some gluten-free cookies with our coffee. A 10, I will repeat without hesitation on the next visit.
