Reviews Summary

Bar La Cueva is celebrated for its lively atmosphere, often enhanced by impromptu music, and its traditional Galician tapas at fair prices. Visitors praise the friendly service and the unique experience of enjoying local flavors in a historic setting. However, some find the food can be overly salty or not to their exact preference at times, and occasional issues with music starting late have been noted.

"This place has to be my favorite local Tavern in Santiago great lively atmosphere, good company, fair prices, tall drinks and stays open a little longer if you ask nicely. Cheers!!!"

Maria Morell

"Great place for having beers, they serve a tapa of mussels which is great. Excellent service!"

Rutas Afa

"Decent little bar in the heart of the town centre. Didn't get to try the food but it looked really nice, and smelled good too. Luckily we were treated to an impromptu guitar player and some decent singers (along with some not so decent ones), which created a nice vibe. I know this isn't part of the bar so shouldn't be in the review score, but probably the only reason we stuck around for an hour. Enjoyed ourselves"

11 Best Tapas Bars in Santiago de Compostela: Come Hungry!

La Cueva is the place to try mejillones tigres, giant mussels swimming in a spicy tomato-based sauce. But if spicy isn't your thing, fear not!. The other mussels on the menu (steamed or a la vinaigrette) are just as tasty.

This is another of the city’s classics when it comes to free tapas. Here, in the heart of Santiago (Travesía do Franco, corner with Rúa Raíña) the star are the rabid tigers. And you will ask yourself, what is that?

Another classic, known for its “angry tigers”, which usually come as a tapa. A charming corner tavern, with all the flavor of traditional and neighborhood Galician cuisine. Simple menu, but everything homemade.
