Reviews Summary

Old Town Coffee is a highly-regarded spot for exceptional coffee and fresh brunch items, particularly praised for its cappuccinos, avocado toast, and friendly service. While many find the ambiance cozy and welcoming, some reviews mention occasional issues with portion sizes being small and a rare instance of unsanitary conditions or a non-service dog policy not being enforced.

"Perfect for breakfast or lunch! The cappuccinos are absolutely spot-on, and the food is incredibly fresh and delicious. This has become my favorite breakfast experience in town. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming — thank you for all your hard work!"

Fábio Gamito

"Amazing modern brunch right next to the cathedral.

Great coffee and food, we did have to wait for a table (where good don't you in San Sebastien), but you are given a fob that tells you when it's ready and to head back.

Worth the wait. Perfect flat whites, and everyone loved the food. It was so good we came back again on the last day of our holiday."

Ben Hickman

"Absolutely unreal.

There were no tables available when we got there, so they gave us a beeper. We took the time to see the cathedral nearby, and came back to have the most AMAZING brunch. Everything was perfect: food, waiters, location, atmosphere (we talked a whole lot to the people at other tables)! The star of the show to me was the cinnamon roll, it's got a gooey and soft texture that I haven't had before. Really good!

My only general complaint is that the portion sizes are too small...you know the food is good when the only problem is that there isn't more of it!"

The 25 Best Restaurants In San Sebastián - San Sebastián

Old Town is one of the only specialty coffee shops in San Sebastián, but their flat whites are more than just gorgeous cups of caffeine. The young owners roast their own beans just outside city limits, and at least one of them is always on hand to explain the coffee’s notes and where it’s from. Post up at the bar or on the patio and pair your coffee with brunch staples like avocado toast with salmon, bread with Spanish ham and tomato, or yogurt bowls topped with fruit and granola.

What started off as a passion project between two coffee-loving Brazilian friends has become a local favorite, known for some of the best coffee in San Sebastian. Old Town Coffee might always be packed, but despite the crowds, owners Márcio and Ricardo always find the time to strike up a friendly conversation with each customer. They specialize in single-origin coffees which are rotated on a seasonal basis to ensure quality, and offer a delicious selection of organic baked goods (with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options among them).

The best areas to stay in San Sebastián

A nerve center and the heart of the city’s social activity, the historic district is located at the foot of Monte Urgull between the port and the Urumea River. Wander through a maze of cobbled pedestrian streets, lined with numerous “ pintxos” bars – typically Basque tapas bars – where you can enjoy delicious local food while sipping on a glass of wine. This quarter hosts the famous Tamborrada of Donostia, a celebratory drum festival held every year on January 20th since 1836, to commemorate the Napoleonic occupation.
