Reviews Summary
This beloved pintxo bar is celebrated for its legendary tortilla española and a wide array of expertly prepared pintxos, praised by locals and visitors alike. The friendly staff and authentic Basque atmosphere contribute to a consistently positive dining experience, though some find the service can be busy during peak hours.
"Loved all the pintox we tried. Also, the service was amazing. We asked our server to suggest what he would recommend and he came up with top-notch items from the menu. Honestly speaking, we wouldn't choose them if we were going to pick from the menu, but we were so glad that we let our server suggest/pick them for us and we had the chance to experience their great taste. Highly recommended if you are in the area and want to avoid high traffic from tourists."

"So we had a chat having some pinxtos in the old town and a local told us about this place with the best tortilla in town. So we went there the next day for lunch, and indeed the tortilla was amazing. We had two servings, nothing else!
There was a line outside but it didn't take long, the staff pays attention when there is room inside or outside for you.
Great food, great service what more to say, absolutely worth to check it out."

"We weren’t lucky enough to get a portion of the famous tortilla, but the waiter was kind enough to offer us something similar, and it was great, just like the other pintxos we tried. The calamares were outstanding; I don’t remember ever having any quite as good. And of course, the gazpacho was lovely: tangy with vinegar and a good splash of olive oil.
We stood outside at the “bar” and it felt incredibly cool, the crowd around us also added to the good vibes. A strong recommendation for everyone!"

Best Restaurants In The Basque Country Spain
Antonio Bar gives top priority to the freshness of its pintxos, preparing the dishes as they are ordered rather than in bulk. In addition, the restaurant has established a strong relationship with its trusted suppliers and creates its dishes according to the seasons, using only the highest quality products. Just as Antonio Bar values its rapport with its business partners, so too does it place a great amount of importance on creating a welcoming atmosphere for its clients.
The best pintxo bars in San Sebastián
The nondescript frontage and minute size of Antonio Bar belies one of the best pintxo bars in the city. Gregarious owners, Humberto and Ramón, personally greet customers both new and old from behind the bar, half of which is weighted down by a selection of house-cured anchovies, salmon, cured beef and sardines, in casserole dishes filled with olive oil. Placed upon freshly toasted bread and served with unique garnishes, they are Antonio’s signature.
The 25 Best Restaurants In San Sebastián - San Sebastián
If there were an MVP of pintxo bars in San Sebastián, it’d be Antonio Bar. This three-table spot in the Centro shopping district has everything you want in a pintxo spot: a perfect Spanish omelet, a chalkboard menu of hot dishes, and a bar of cured seafood and mayo-y salads. Antonio stays pleasantly busy at all hours, with locals passing through for a quick coffee or a pintxo before lunch or dinner.

Antonio stays busy at all hours, with locals passing through for a coffee or a pintxo before lunch or dinner, but the best time to visit is around 12:30 or 1pm for a slice of the 28-egg tortilla de patatas, which is one of the city’s best.
San Sebastián’s Top 12 Pintxos—And Where to Eat Them
Beloved across Spain, tortilla española may be the country’s de facto national dish, but few cities take the oozy potato omelet as seriously as San Sebastián. A good tortilla—ingredients: potato, eggs, onions, and oil—embodies the phrase “greater than the sum of its parts,” and the tiny, nondescript Antonio Bar serves what I consider to be the best in town. Antonio’s version is tall, dark, and handsome, thanks to a whopping 28 eggs, extra-caramelized onions, and perfectly confited potatoes.
The best restaurants in San Sebastián
Bar Manojo isn’t somewhere you would stumble upon, tucked into the corner of San Sebastián’s laid-back neighbourhood of Gros. This tiny half-bar, half-restaurant spot feels like a real local’s secret. The dishes constantly change with the Cantabrian Sea and Basque forests’ micro-seasons, and most come in three sizes (pintxo, half ración, full ración) to be shared and paired with carefully selected natural wines.

This small bar is one of the most unpretentious and delicious places to eat in town (always go to the original location, on Calle Bergara). It’s almost impossible to understand how the size of this place is able to satisfy the demand. Bar Antonio has the most efficient and charismatic waiters in San Sebastián.

There are two Bar Antonios in the centre of San Sebastian, one on the Boulevard and another just off the Avenida on Calle Bergara. The Boulevard branch (on the fringes of the Old Town) operates a more luxury restaurant menu. It’s a great spot for lunch, but it’s probably a better place for an evening meal.

The Antonio restaurant-bar also has a rich pintxo bar, which includes the fabulous pintxo de bonito. It has good proportions and original pintxos, although one of the most valued choices is the classic potato omelette. It is outside the tourist areas, so the atmosphere is quieter.

Fun bar with outdoor seating leaning into a bar wrapping around the restaurant. We had some bacon wrapped shrimp and a ravioli dish which was recommended to us but which we didn’t love. Antonio Bar is definitely worth a drink though as it’s quite fun.
