With its vintage Martini signs, impressive antique seltzer bottle collection, and colourful arrangement of hanging foodstuffs, La Rosa wins Palma’s most-Instagrammable award hands-down. Since opening in 2015, it’s been a hit with both residents and visitors, riding the wave of vermouth’s new-found popularity. Tapas-size dishes are carefully presented, often inspired by traditional Mallorcan cooking, as well as plenty of surprisingly tasty straight-from-the-tin options.

This cheery hangout, tucked away in Plaça Weyler, is for vermouth aficionados: it offers glasses by the barrel or from a selection of vermouth brands. Wines and beers are also served but vermouth is king. Aromatic and seasonal tapas such as fresh prawns, grilled artichokes, patatas bravas, and crispy squid are prepared from a contemporary bar adorned with bunches of braided chillies and plump garlic.

Vermutería La Rosa, south of La Rambla, is always packed and has a buzz about it. The atmosphere is a big part of the experience, although everything is really tasty here, such as octopus (€15.90) and made-to-order tortilla (€7.60). Order a vermouth while you are deciding.

Truth to be told, I’m not sure if I like La Rosa Vermuteria, because it is very posh concept, because usually to take Vermut in Spain is done in very low key bars where the floors are dirty, and the people are hanging around to gossip. If you have never experienced a vermouth place, this is a cool place to have your first vermouth experience, maybe not the most authentic place, but the food is tasty, and the vermouth was a refreshing cleanser for the palette. La Rosa Vermutería & Colmado is the benchmark vermutería for tapas in Palma, as it was the first to recover and offer this type of concept that is so fashionable in Mallorca today: going out to drink a vermouth. The place is beautiful, the décor is very neat and the menu includes lots of tapas and pinchos, gourmet preserves, freshly sliced Spanish ham and, most importantly, a very good vermouth. Its cuisine is homemade, of good quality and prepared with care.

Situated in Palma and close to the Convent de la Missió this retro decorated restaurant is a must visit if you are in the area!. With a buzzing atmosphere, quirky and delicious food (try the tapas), welcoming service and all at a resonable price this place is understababy popular. You cannot book so you may have to wait a little while for a table but this allows you time to have a seat and drink at the bar to sample their infamous vermouth.

My aunt turned me on to vermut when we were in Mallorca and now it's my new favorite drink...although I'm still not sure I understand the difference between vermut and vermouth (or if there is one). A follower on instagram recommended it to me as raisin wine and that's the best description I can think of for it!. It's sweet, but not cloying, and has a bit of spiciness and depth of flavor that cuts the sweetness.
