Reviews Summary

Restaurante La Corte de Pelayo is highly praised for its exceptional Asturian cuisine, particularly the renowned Cachopo and Fabada, and its sophisticated ambiance with beautiful city views. While many commend the quality and quantity of food, some reviews mention slow service during peak times and an unwelcoming reception experience. Despite minor issues, the overall consensus points to a memorable dining experience worth the price.

"We went there for a lunch without a reservation. The service was fast and professional. The food was exceptional.
The portions were huge - octopus and Fabada were listed as starters. We would be satisfied with them as main dishes.
We also tried fish and steak. Steak was supposed to be medium but was medium rare, and the potatoes weren’t good. I guess I should have selected a fish or more traditional dish. Otherwise everything was perfect.
We paid 100€ excl. tip which was a bit expensive but worth it. Next time, we would go only with the starters or shared one main dish as we were not able to finish all the food.
The bathroom was a bit dirty."

Anna

"Fantastic food, great quantity and quality, nice selection of tasty local wines. Not cheap but definitely worth the price."

Benedict

"Fantastic restaurant! Location, service, and amazing food. Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, we traveled from Miami to experience the beauty of Spain. Oviedo is a definite place to visit, and this restaurant is a MUST!! My husband had the Fabada, WOWWWWWWWWW."

Sylvia

Head to La Corte de Pelayo, a sophisticated spot on the corner of Campo de San Francisco park, renowned for its hearty cachopos – huge veal fillets layered with ham and cheese, then coated in bread crumbs and deep fried. They also serve excellent Fabada Asturiana – the dish that defines the region – a thick, rich and hearty stew made from white beans simmered with chunks of ham, chorizo and black pudding.

Cider Houses & Tapas In Asturias, Spain

One of my favorite places to sit and people-watch is La Corte, an old-style Spanish bar with dark wood and high ceilings. There are chairs outside where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Little plates of tortilla are constantly replenished, for no extra cost other than the tip at the end, but it’s often so good that you’ll end up staying and ordering a whole load of tapas.

A feast for foodies – why Oviedo is Spain’s new capital of gastronomy

I swap cider for wine at La Corte de Pelayo, a restaurant in central Oviedo, tasting a white by Siluvio and a red by Monasterio de Corias, both local wineries. With views of the Asturias parliament and Plaza de la Escandalera, this classic spot offers traditional cuisine, thoughtful preparation and local produce ranging from fish such as alfonsino (red bream) and pixín (monkfish) to cachopo.
