What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
El Fondín de Trascorrales is lauded for its exceptional seafood, fresh local ingredients, and warm family atmosphere. Diners rave about the attentive service and creative dishes. However, one review expressed disappointment with the food quality and perceived pretentiousness for the price, suggesting it may cater more to tourists.
"I had mussels and main course of squid. Absolutely perfect and thoroughly recommend.
As is normal there was a strong lack of vegetarian options but the staff fixed a reasonable mushroom risotto for my partner. Very good."

"We are a bit astonished at all the good reviews this place has. We live in Oviedo and decided to try it as it looks nice and has good reviews. The food however was extremely disappointing... The quality was of an ordinary cidreria but with pretensions of grandeur regarding the presentation and price. Sows ear at the price of a silk purse basically. For the price (we paid about €35 per person) I would have expected far more and have eaten far better for less in other places in Oviedo (and we eat out a lot here). The crepe with seafood was actually inedible, and the food was so stodgy that after the first plate I felt sick and full, the typical thing that happens to me in most lesser quality establishments. The vibe we got from the server too was that their clientele was mostly tourists. We will never go back."

"Excellent local fresh food...we enjoyed tomatoes..and lots of fish. Even though language was a bit of a barrier we had a great time. We highly recommend. Gracias"

Food in Oviedo and Asturias
Particularly the tortilla de gambas, merluza, and pixín/rape dishes were heavenly, but really absolutely everything at El Fondin is worth the slightly bigger price tag, save this for a special occasion, just off of the Fontan market, this is a tiny, up-market, but quaint restaurant, with super slick staff and the best food in the city.
