What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Casa Ramón is praised for its excellent quality food, particularly its Asturian specialties and fresh seafood, served in a beautiful setting on Plaza Fontán. While many enjoy the friendly atmosphere and good value, some reviewers mention concerns about high prices for certain dishes and occasional issues with service attentiveness or bill accuracy.
"We had the chance of dinning here and it was an amazing experience: Pixin's fried (monkfish) was delicious, but also all the seafood and fish that we tasted. Special mention to verdinas (very tender legumes) with seafood.
Also, it is remarcable the staff good behaviour and the quality/price ratio... Including wines, desserts and liquors, we ended up with a ratio of €55 per person, which in other places would have been more than €100."
Diego Carreño
"It's popular, and does decent food, but well overpriced for what it was. Sharing plates ranging between 15-20 euro each, when you can get an excellent quality menu del dia for that money at other places. Waiting staff weren't rude but definitely 'perfunctory'. Didn't taste or experience anything that would make us want to come back again."
Martin Burrow
"Really great food. The goat cheese ventresca salad was fantastic - superb goat cheese. Navajas were al ajillo and delish. We had a kilo and a half of centollo that was perfect. Great cider. And the almond torta dessert was spectacular."

Oviedo city guide: your weekend break sorted
In the corner of the gorgeous Plaza de Daoiz y Velarde and as popular with locals as it is tourists, Casa Ramón is arguably the most traditionally Asturian restaurant in Oviedo. Tables inside are better, with a menu that’s all about the ingredients: fish and shellfish from small suppliers; game in season from the mountains (including boar, hare, venison and woodcock); fabulous squid; and meat from their own farm. Ask for a small portion of their fabada con almejas — beans with clams — to start and follow with whatever the waiter recommends (mains from £15; casaramonoviedo.com).
Oviedo, Spain
There are many popular places to eat, the more known are: Tierra Astur (in Gascona there are two down the street there is a grill with local products and up the street there is the restaurant with every product said above. Also in the Fontán there are two: Casa Ramón with fish from the shores and Casa Amparo. Near the Cathedral there are many places to drink and eat tapas, like Plaza del Riego with restaurants of ham and El Reloj de Porlier with its great asturian and international food.

For something more lowkey, head to Casa Ramón, right on Plaza Fontán, close to the market. It also serves an excellent fabada, where the beans are served first, followed by a meat-lovers’ feast.

There are more typical Asturian flavours at Casa Ramon on Plaza El Fontan, which produces its own meat and sources its seafood and fish from the next-door Mercado El Fontan.
