This tapas bar and restaurant, smack in the centre of old town specializes in all things arroz (rice)!. Moister than paella with a texture akin to rissoto, the rice dishes here are cooked with everything from baby squid to Iberian pork, lobster to foie gras. For those who don’t fancy rice, there’s also fideua (short noodles) as well as a whole host of classic tapas and larger sized dishes (raciones) on offer.

La Genuina, just off of the Fontan market, serves an array of rice dishes. My tip is to order a drink at the quirky bar, with which you'll be given a taster helping of rice. That will probably convince you to sit yourself at a table and order a plate or two; recommendations include the de montanes and de la huerta, if you're feeling like a meat-free dinner.

The Arrocería La Genuina de Cimadevilla is located in the heart of the city of Oviedo. A place with more than 15 years of experience serving rice and becoming one of the most emblematic rice shops in the city. In La Genuina you can also taste the best dishes of Asturian cuisine such as cachopo, plus stuffed leeks or skewered chicken with sauce.

De hecho, tienen un menú arrocero con el que el cliente puede elegir si degustarlo con centollo, bogavante, bogavante azul o carabineros. Abre todos los días de la semana.

La Genuina de Cimadevilla is a highly-rated arroceria in the Old Town. Like La Corte de Pelayo, they’re a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence awardee with an even more impressive 4.5-star rating. Tanks of cerveza are always a pleasant sight.
