What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Restaurante Sekai offers a delightful fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisines, with many praising the unique flavors and generous portions. While the food is often described as beautiful and delicious, some diners have noted inconsistencies in service speed and presentation. However, the quality of the sushi and specialty dishes like the duck maki are frequently highlighted as standouts, making it a recommended spot for those seeking an adventurous culinary experience.
"No reservations showed up at 8pm manager was very accommodating set up a table for my wife and I to eat. Food was delicious loved the dumpling/Gyozas, also really enjoyed the tuna nigiri very fresh."

"Japanese/Asian/Mediterranean fusion place. Great service, sushi is as expected acceptable. It’s not entirely Japanese quality (rice, rolling skill, seaweed, fish) but good to have some sushi bites when you are craving for it. Really liked the fried complimentary shrimps skewer though, very good fried with panko crumbs and not greasy at all. Maki rolls with duck and caramalised onions was also special to try out. Would definitely go back when I’m graving for some sushi bites."

"Stumbled across this place while on holiday...we did nearly walk out for 2 reasons. 1 was the waiting time for food , the 2nd was one of the chefs I could see working away in the kitchen came out in dirty chef whites and not looking very presentable...... but the food eventually arrived and I have to say it was absolutely beautiful!!!"

Best Restaurants in Nerja
Japanese and Mediterranean fusion seems to be a cooking style gaining some traction in the food world. When fusion food is done right it can be wonderful, and at Sekai it’s definitely done right. The chefs at Sekai don’t mix the two cuisines in every dish – their sushi remains light and clean and subtle, for example – but combining the subtlety of Japanese execution with the robustness of Mediterranean flavours can make for some really exciting dining experiences.
Top Restaurants: Where to eat in Nerja and Maro
SEKAI is also a great option, although it is in a different price range, it is a restaurant with Asian connotations. Duck menus, teriyaki beef and especially Cajun tuna are my favourites. I hope my experience and recommendations have been of interest to you and that you enjoy eating in Nerja and Maro.
