Reviews Summary

Restaurante Matiz offers a sophisticated dining experience with creative Mediterranean dishes and excellent service. Many praise the tasting menu as exceptional value and quality, comparable to Michelin-starred establishments. While the ambiance is often lauded, some recent visitors note a shift in atmosphere and hospitality, though food quality generally remains high.

"Best restaurant in Malaga. They use local ingredients, amazing taste and beautiful plate decor. Our waiter Miguel was exceptional. We loved the restaurant and the great hospitality so much that we came back in the same week. Thank you!"

Carolina Vargas

"Had a lovely dinner here on a sleepy Monday night. We particularly enjoyed the sautéed vegetables, the cannelloni, and the desserts (sponge cake and chocolates). Honestly the desserts were the highlight of the meal. The bread was also very tasty.

A warning for folks—the carrot soup is really more of a seafood soup, it tastes like what I would call “ocean brine.” I actually loved the cockles in the briny soup and I usually don’t like clams served cold at all. But the soup itself should be more of a garnish than a soup… No idea who’s going to be able to eat more than a couple bites of that!

Also a note for the restaurant—we were seated at a table by the back wall that was extremely brightly lit. In particular the strip lighting near the floor bothered my partner throughout the dinner. Perhaps remove a few lights? Never met a restaurant that needed any white lights whatsoever :)"

Jonathan Ben-Menachem

"I must say…Matiz used to be one of my favorite spots - for casual dining and hosting events, but after today’s visit, I’ve definitely changed my mind….. Quite disappointed, to be honest.

The change in team and management has clearly impacted the overall dining experience. The atmosphere no longer feels warm or welcoming—hospitality felt rushed and impersonal, and the energy of the space now feels overly masculine and commercial.

The food quality is still good, don’t get me wrong. But the lunch menu option isn’t as good as it used to be

Just wanna share some honest thoughts."
