Definitely make a reservation for both the roomier seated section or try your luck walking into the standing area in the bar (just expect to go shoulder-to-shoulder with other diners).

This tony gastro bar serves newfangled tapas that are well worth their higher-than-usual price tag. Spring for the tempura soft-shell crab bao with chive mayonnaise, garlicky artichoke flatbread, or any other tapa del día, but whatever you do, order the famous tortilla de patata, irresistible with its molten core and handfuls of caramelized onions. Determined to spend a Sunday afternoon as traditional Madrilenos do, we headed straight for La Latina, a vibrant and captivating area swarming with smiling young people with tapas on their plates and cold beers in their hands. We opted to duck into Juana La Loca in hopes of an elevated tapas experience, rather than the great, albeit more simple one that was happening in the half dozen plazas around us. What was found was one of the best dishes either one of us have ever had, anywhere.

For many, Ruana La Loca is the best traditional restaurantin Madrid, for me it is up there, more than anything it is the best traditional tapas restaurant in Madrid for sure!. It is located in the La Latina neighbourhood and Madrid. Juana La Loca has been offering pintxos (tapas) to its people for more than 20 years and it is the pioneer in respecting the flavours and traditional recipes of its kind.

Es el negocio abierto hace 20 años por Isabel Tocchetti (acompañada con los años de su hijo, Filippo Bonasso) en el barrio de de La Latina. En su día, implantó un formato realmente innovador de cocina viajera ligada a una propuesta de ‘pintxos’ —que, probablemente, muchos locales de la zona copiaron después—.

In the heart of La Latina near this stylish bar/restaurant with Basque style pintxos has a good price to quality ratio, although its not cheap. They claim Gwyneth Paltrow ate here, but the reason I go is for their pintxo of tortilla española with carmalized onions with a glass of Cava. Their other tapas with a modern, inovative and international flair are very tasty as well.

Located in La Latina since 2001 with their special and unique authentic tabern, you should definitely try their typical Spanish tortilla de patatas. They have a great selection of tapas and small bites, if you want to enjoy some good food you should definitely give it a try. Over 20 years offering different types of flavours, creativity and tradition with basque influence.

Buena parte de su �xito radica en que caramelizan la cebolla y sus pinchos se sirven con una tosta de pan crujiente.

L’une des tortillas les plus célèbres de Madrid se trouve à La Latina, dans le petit local très stylé de Juana La Loca. Servi très sobrement sur un bout de pain, le pintxo de tortilla de Juana La Loca est pile au bon endroit entre cuit et coulant, et ses oignons caramélisés lui donnent ce goût de malade qui donne envie de commander un autre morceau.

But this trip’s best Madrid tapas experience took place just beyond the far end of Calle Cava Baja, where the bar called Juana la Loca overlooks a lonely square. Named “Juana the Mad” (for the 16th-century Spanish queen), it feels like a more sophisticated, more civilized alternative to the standard tapas bar. It’s crowded, but not crazy.

For those who love to Instagram food and recipes, Juana la Loca is a place that you need to go. This cozzy restaurant is famous by its spanish omelettes, considered the best ones of the capital. In addition, you could enjoy of numerous yummy tapas as huevos con Trufa (Eggs with truffle), pastel de bacalao (cod pie) and ham with tomato.

On a Sunday afternoon the lively La Latina neighborhood was bustling with people. It is the oldest neighborhood in Madrid, occupying the site of a medieval Islamic citadel within the city walls. La Latina is packed with bars and restaurants, one of the most popular of which is Juana La Loca.

Bar de tapas ubicado en el madrileñísimo barrio de La Latina. Además de lleno absoluto los domingos, son muchos los parroquianos que se acercan a la Puerta de Moros para degustar alguno de los pinchos que elaboran a diario. La suya también es del las poco cuajadas, pero con una diferencia.

For a more upscale tapas experience, head to Juana La Loca in the La Latina district. Housed in a renovated 16th century palace, they offer innovative takes on classic Spanish tapas with a focus on seafood. Be sure to try the seared tuna with foie gras and strawberries.

A trendy tapas bar and one of La Latina’s many foodie gems, Juana La Loca serves some truly creative dishes. So it isn’t surprising they’ve added a little twist to the classic tortilla. Theirs comes with an onion confit and can only be described in one word—juicy.

The next place that we went was a place in La Latina neighborhood, it’s called Juana La Loca. The restaurant itself is modern, it has an english menu and great selection of cheap and affordable wines, the highlight is definitely the tortilla.

Another tortilla that often lands on the "top tortillas of Madrid" lists is Juana la Loca's (Plaza Puerta de Moros, 4, 28005 Madrid). In contrast to La Ardosa, this is a buttoned-up joint, complete with a bouncer-doorman!

Reinventing this traditional recipe is not something that is effortless. In this modern ‘pintxos’ bar they do it perfectly. Caramelized potatoes make a sweet and delicious thick omelette.
