Reviews Summary
Bodega Regia offers a traditional Spanish dining experience in a historic setting. While many praise the superb food quality, fast service, and house wine, some find the portions scarce and prices high for the value received. The ambiance is generally loved, but a few reviews suggest the restaurant may not be living up to its past glory.
"We had dinner here with a tour group. The food was superb and the service was fast and friendly, even with a group of 29. We had a salad with a local goat cheese and a balasmic dressing that was wonderful, and a beef and potatoes dish with brown gravy. The beef was tender and the gravy was very flavorful. Their house brand wine was excellent. The flan and coffee to finish made for an great end to the dinner."

"Food, service and atmosphere is absolutely superb. Price is very very decent for the quality you’re getting. What a superb meal we had. We were all served by Mario, a fantastic waiter we had during our lunch. What a nice place, goes to my list of MUST-GO, and I’ll obviously recommend and come back when I’m in Leon."

"Come to Leon, and among other wonderful restaurants, don’t miss the fantastic Bodega Regia, to enjoy the best tradicional recipes. Lechazo, Sopas de Ajo, Lentejas con Torrezno, Rodaballo, Carrillera, Tarta de Castañas… Best service with Marcos and his team (Albino is our favorite!)"

Should I add a night to Salamanca or Leon
For sit down dining, besides the elegant dining room of the Parador (dimmed lighting and refined service by white jacketed waiters at this Parador instead of bright lights and the usual waitress staff in regional costume at most others), I can recommend the Bodega Regia in the Old Quarter across from the Casa Botines.
A gastronomic city break in León - Castilla y León - Blog en el Camino de Santiago
I discovered this over lunch at Bodega Regia, a 14th-century townhouse where Marcos Vidal sat me down to a properly Leonese menu beginning with cecina and cured pig’s tongue, smoky chorizo and creamy-centred ham croquetas “in the style of Ana”, the chef and Vidal’s wife (the restaurant has been in the family for more than 60 years). That was followed by a comforting dish of stewed chickpeas, then slow-cooked beef cheeks so tender they fell apart under the fork, and a dense sweet cake made with chestnuts from the forests of El Bierzo. From the Bodega I emerged into the cold afternoon for a stroll along Calle Ancha, nearly deserted at siesta time, and another look at the great cathedral, whose cream-white spires, scrubbed free of a thousand years of grime, soared and glittered in the clear air.
