The streets around the cathedral can feel heavily touristed, so it’s a joy to stumble across Más Que Vinos, a lively tapas bar/restaurant with a few tall tables on a narrow alley. It’s a hit with both Granadinos and visitors – the later you arrive, the more local the buzz. Tapas offerings include homemade croquettes (from wild mushroom to ibérico ham), raciones of crispy aubergines with Motril honey, and Granada-grown potatoes fried with ham and eggs as huevos rotos.

This lovely little bar/restaurant is a short walk from Granada’s main streets and really worth a visit. Thee wine list at Taberna Más que Vinos is great and reasonably priced, and their tapas are made using the best ingredients. When our last visit started with a slice of cheese on bread as our first tapa, we were a bit disappointed at first—but it turned out to be the most delicious bite of cheese we’d had in a long time!

That isn’t to say this chicken curry from Taberna Restaurante Mas Que Vinos isn’t worth a trip in itself. This is almost a meal with its large portion!. The restaurant is known for its large selection of wine, but I would recommend one of the many amazing craft beers they have on hand as they are really good, especially the red beer.

I had read that this tavern had reasonably priced good quality tapas so we headed here for dinner one night. When we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to order from the regular menu or just tapas which affected which area we could sit. We stuck with tapas and found some stools around a wine barrel to sit on.

At the cozy Taberna Más que Vinos, we tasted some of the country’s best red wine as the sun set. And since we were in the free tapa capital of the world, it came served with olives and slices of marinated pork.
