"I was overcharged by a comical amount earlier today.

I honestly do not understand why certain restaurants in Spain overcharge tourists. The prices are on the menu both inside and outside the restaurant. When we compare the prices on the menu to the price on the receipt, we are obviously going to see the discrepancies and raise a stink. Why do it?

I came here with my two sons while visiting the historical center of Cuenca. We ordered 3 hamburgers, which were listed as 17.50 euros each. The burgers were excellent. We modified one of the burgers for my younger son because he only wanted cheese as a topping, and the kitchen even got that right. We were extremely satisfied customers, which is why I do not understand why the restaurant would do something as stupid as overcharge us by 1 measly euro per burger.

I also do not understand the culture of asking the customer, “Is the bill okay?” in order to pretend all is well. Why would I raise an overcharging issue in front of my kids and fight with restaurant staff over 3 euros? As far as any potential language difficulties go, as you can see on the menu, there is not a single burger that costs 18.5 euros.

Avoid this place and give your business to the other establishments in the area."
